Saturday afternoon I pushed my Strada out of the garage to wash it ready for the Sunday morning breakfast run. When it was finished I went to start the bike and it simply went beserk.

The dash lights were all flashing on and off, the running lights worked but nothing else and the error codes on the dash indicated a "Can Line"

Thinking I had got water in the wiring I stripped the fairings, side panels, seat etc. and proceeded to dry the bike out with a combination of electric fans and a warm heat gun. 20 minutes later it was still the same.

Now here is the crunch, I decided to put a multi tester on the battery and found it only had 5 volts on it, and it turns out I had left the bike under it's cover with my hard wired GPS switched on for 8 days - Dead battery!

A warning to all, if your bike shows similar symptoms, do not be an ***** like me and strip the whole bike, check the battery first:eek:

Don't feel bad, Pom. I follow certain rules when I have a problem, such as "it's usually the last thing I touched." Works most of the time. But perhaps you should put that GPS charger on the ignition-switched circuit....

It takes a real man to confess his own dumbness:D
