From low to high rear suspension - how?

105/D09 is what I got.

Don't order them yourself, find your local authorized Andreani dealer and have them order and install them for you. I was only charged the cost of parts, that included installation fees, oil, everything. I also went back and they swapped out the spring for a softer rate free of charge (no parts or labor cost to me). Seemed silly to pay the same amount and have to do the work myself. Your local dealer might be different, but it's worth looking into it.

Local Ohlins dealer can probably shorten that shock a little for you without much trouble as well, as well as get and install the proper spring for your weight at the same time.

Good suggestion! I have an andreani dealer not far from where I live. I'll go there and make him order the parts needed. I'm really grateful for your answers. This forum is amazing
Thank you very much and greetings from italy

Hi Guys,

Nice to follow the conversation. I'm picking up my HS tomorrow after final adjustments to my troubles. Unfortunately I'm not able to give you the detailed description on how my mechanic did this, but the end result is like this:
- Standard hight Andreani cartridges in low forks
- Andreani upgrade kit with spring, piston and shims to the original Showa rear shock
- Forks will be a bit higher in the triple clamps but not much more than original
- The Showa rear show has been modified to be higher by altering one of the original internal parts (sorry can't be more precise than that for now) which have given approx. 1,5 cm in increased hight = more space for the spring

I'm looking very much forward to driving it now after final adjustments and have will take it on a easy track day in 2 weeks. Not that I want race suspension, but a place where I can test it under other circumstances.

Btw, I ordered the 105/D08E not from Andreani directly but via an italian vendor (genialmotor.it) and did save a considerable amount of money. I found them on eBay and it is exactly the same hardware and I had it shipped to Denmark from Italy in 3 days.

That's interesting! Are you suggesting that there are two different heights depending on cartridges model? I thought hyperstrada standard version and Hypermotard were at the same height. It"s becoming a mess

There are 4 different stock heights.

SP has the tallest forks with special height tall rear shock, next is Hypermotard forks with "standard" height rear shock, then you have normal Strada forks with a "standard" height rear with added hydraulic preload. The lowest is a "low" strada that has even lower front forks, and a special lower rear shock with hydraulic preload.

To make things even more complicated, in 2016 some markets had all of the stradas delivered as "low" versions, but they weren't marked as low or show that as an option. I don't know if this affected the 939 at all.

So, yeah. It's understandable if you're a little confused.

I don't know what the difference between D08 and D09 inserts are. Could be valving, could be height, could be both. I'm guessing it's height, but I could be wrong.

Call your dealer, I'm sure they will know

Thank you very much, I'm learning a lot of new things I didn't know before
Have you got a picture of your bike with modded forks? So I can understand the difference in height compared to low version.

I don't have one that shows the forks clearly. SP is above the top of the guards, motard is about even with the top, Strada is about 1/4 down, and low is almost 1/2 way down. Hope that makes sense

You were crystal clear! So, in the end, what is your suggestion for my hyperstrada? I'm thinking of getting the same height of yours, Hypermotard standard

Hy everyone,
I know it's literally ages since someone wrote not this thread but I need your help. Basically I would like to make my 2015 Hyperstrada (low version, 810mm from ground cause I also have the lowered seat) as high as a standard Hypermotard. I bought the standard rear shock absorber the one that the Hypermotard mounts (36521141A), the proper side stand, and since replace the front fork it's quite expansive I thought to replace only the cartridge using the Andreani kit. Since my goal is to make the bike higher from the ground (getting close to standard high 870mm) I don't know wich is the right kit for me: 105/D09E (marked for hypermotard) - 105/D08E (marked for Hyperstrada) or 105/D12E (marked for Hyperstrada low version).

Get the kit for the standard hypermotard. Big improvement all around and you’ll get the ride height you’re after.

You will need the entire fork not just the cartridge kit from a Hypermotard. Also the SP has higher suspension so you may want to look for that.

Thanks for your reply. To be honest I've made quite a lot of research and measurement. The SP version has a lower rear absorber: the Ohlins is 282mm vs 290 for the standard; only the Marzocchi front fork are higher but they don't work quite well. The outer part of the Hyperstrada and Hypermotard is literally the same length so that's why I'll change only the cartridge; and also the cost is a remarkable factor unfortunately 😭

Yeah, that's what i will probably do. @elephantwithtrexarms should have done the same from what I read on this thread; another user mounted the 08E but I can't get the difference from 09 and 08
