Headlight bulb issue

That sounds like incompatibility with the canbus (or whatever) electrical system. I fitted a four-COB LED bulb which claimed compatibilty and it works fine, though the beam pattern is not great due to the rather fat array of emitters. I've since tried a much better LED (brighter and better beam on other bikes) and added a canbus-compatibility widget and it didn't work properly at all, so reverted to the four-COB unit. Maybe I should try another brand of widget, but I don't ride at night and a diffuse beam is very noticeable in daylight conditions, which is what I'm looking for!

Having the highbeam blink currently with a new led setup, what is the "canbus-compatibility widget" that you are talking about?

Just a follow-up to this thread. Last year I gave up on LED main H4 bulbs in the HS, much as I go for them in all other bikes/cars, because of compatability issues. Yesterday I tried again because I hate the feeble glow of halogen. I've re-fitted the good-quality Auxito H4 I last tried but added a more-expensive canbus decoder, and so far, so good.

This is more bulky than most decoders so I tucked it in beside the front of the fuel tank and made an extra coupling cable between it and the LED driver. It helped a lot to enlarge the slot in the front bodywork behind the headlamp unit, as it's nigh on impossible to get all the plugs and sockets in and re-install the headlamp. Now I have a headlamp light that better matches my strip DRLs on the radiator sides. I don't know what the night time riding experience will be but there are no error codes on the dash and no flickering from the headlamp. Hopefully this installation will last!

I've used a couple of brands of LED and never had a problem with canbus. Did have to adjust the light, but that's about it.

It was a while back, but I think the LED was flickering on one beam so I fitted the cheap decoder without much success. Maybe it was the LED bulb itself. Whatever, I used the other of the pair of Auxito LEDs I'd bought rather than the previous one when I re-installed LED this time. Time will tell!
