Hyperstrada or hypermotard

a couple of weeks ago i was looking at the pictures of the bags that someone had taken at a motorcycle show and was also shocked to see shoe marks, i guess people at bike shows are not as careful as actual bike owners. we'll just have to be extra careful with those

Here's the picture gkmapv and I are talking about

That grab rail looks perfect for a tailbag! I'm pretty sure all owners of the Strada won't scuff up their bags like people at a bike show (that don't care).

The seat of the hyperstrada was very comfortable.
EXCELLENT - L of S

The most I'm worried about are the bags. They are softcases i.s.o. hard cases.

In quite a number of pix of the bike at various shows you can easily see several rub marks across the top of the RHS case in particular, obviously caused by careless people climbing aboard. As said, a proud owner will be much more careful (as you are with hard cases anyway). I'll be giving mine a good waterproof spray anyway, just to help things (tho' it wouldn't stop scuffing).

My MINOR concern is how the bags will stand up to intense sun and UV such as we have much of year here in Oz. I'd not want them turning that horrible faded gray/ brown colour that some fabric bags do after some time. But - like others, I'll only have the bags fitted when on longer overnight trips - the rest of the time they will be off the bike. Good topic......L of S

The Hyperstrada I was looking at the Seattle show had scuffs on top of the right bag. I will be removing the bags and mounts too. When I need them which might be one or two times during the summer I will just remount. Other wise I will just use my tail bag I have from my old Monster. This bike's main duty will be commuting to and from work with occasional weekend rides.

For communication with my iphone I will be mounting a Cardo Scala Rider G9 to the new helmet I will be getting.

I'm still not sure what to order:( Who can help me? What will you choose :the white Hyperstrada or the red hypermotard with the engine guard kit, the carbon headlight fairing, lower touring seat and the passenger grab handles?

Normaly I will take my decision now saturday. Found also these pics of a testbike and a nice photoshop!

I am kind of in the same boat I would rather have the adjustable suspension found in the Hypermotard SP along with the longer wheel travel but the center stand would not work with the SP I would assume due to the height and I’m not overly found of the color and would much prefer the straight up red. Will probably go with the Strada and see how the suspension works and look for upgrades later on if necessary.

Someone tell me if I'm wrong but the lowest height I could get the seat on the motared would be 850mm (that's with low seat, according to Ducati configurator), while on the Strada, the lowest seat available is 810mm. That's over an inch and a half. For my 30" inseam I need that difference. I do love the red frame of the base motared, but overall the Strada is cheaper with all the extras already thrown in (racks, bags, shield, stand, etc.). Tough decision...good luck

Seat heights on Strada

My Strada was ordered with an 820mm seat height, I assume because that's what the dealer told me was the low option when I was discussing it with him (I can forgive him if he's wrong as at that time, about a month ago, nobody had ANY info!). I did tell him that I need to also try the 850mm full-height seat, as it may be narrow enough to allow feet to be placed flat on the ground, which is essential to me. I do like to sit high up so long as my feet can be planted...

But looking at the techical specifications on this site I see that there are actually three (3) seat heights mentioned - 8850mm (I assume that should be 850mm!!!): 830mm: and 810mm. Or - 33.5", 32.7", and 31.9". I'll be happy with the 830mm I'm sure.

BTW, I am told that the way in which the difference in seat heights is achieved is by adjustments to the suspension units - at the front forks and rear spring - at the factory.... Any views or verification on this?

Cheers to all.... L of S

I asked my local owner that very question. He told me all Hyperstrada's will come from the factory with the same seat height. The dealers will be responsible for lowering the bike to the customers specifications. The seat heights, according to Ducati, for the Strada only is 850mm (standard), 830mm, and 810mm.
For those in the know, is the motared frame/suspension "higher" than the Strada and can't go lower?

seat height and suspension adjustments

I'm not at all knowledgeable about such things - but do hope that changes to the suspension will not affect in ANY way the bike's handling, wheel travel, etc. I had a Triumph Tiger 1050 once - excellent bike but far too tall so the rear suspension was lowered, which was fine EXCEPT THAT it altered the geometry at the rear and I simply could not then get the bike up onto the centre-stand.

Don't want this with the Strada. Would much appreciate any knowledgeable comment on this important point. L of S

still nobody pictures of a hyperstrada without the sidebags. I would like to know what you will see when the bags are not on the bike. How big is the frame for the bags? Does somebody know or the lowered touring seat option for the hypermotard will be the same seat as the hyperstrada?

I posted pics of the underside of the seat and the brackets that hold the bags on. There are 3 short "arms" that extend from under the seat that hold the bags in place. You can take them off completely or leave them alone and not compromise the looks IMO...ironically I can't find the pics on here...

+1, reward for the very first who shoot these pics ;)

Do you still have the pics? Otherwise please send me a pm with them!

I have seen these pictures you are speaking about and they had the bags installed they were taken from the under side and I dont think its what you are looking for.

As jerdog said, they are not of the bike without bags, but they do show the "arms" that hold the bags on. I will send them to you or post again later.

My Monster is sold so tomorrow I'm going to order my new hyper! Press introduction within 2 weeks!!!!! First reviews begin march!
