Oil Colour

Just checked my oil level at 3000 miles. The level is fine but the colour is much darker than the last time i checked when it was a dirty yellowish. Now it's almost black i would say.

Can't say what oil was used on the first service at 700 miles as its an ex demo and i got it after the service but the Shell sticker is still there.

Anyone else care to comment on the oil colour on their bikes at similar mileage?

I've had three oil changes with filter.

Each time it's started a dirty yellow and then quickly gone black. I think this may have to do with the clutch plates running in the oil bath. Dealer didn't say anything so I'm assuming this is normal.

Wouldn't worry about it.. Oil darkens pretty quick in every motor due to the heat and the wet clutch.

Mine I run Motul 300V oil, and it's pretty clear for I'd say 500-600 km, it starts to darken very quickly, especially if I'm running high RPM for a sustained timeframe (highway travels).

Thanks for the replies, all sounds good then.

I think i was just surprised how quickly it changed. When i got back from France with 2700 miles on the bike im sure it was still yellowish but maybe not.
