Stabilize Fuel, Battery on tender, and up on track stands (prevents flat spots on tires). Those are really all you need. Put a cover on it if you want to prevent dust from settling on the paint.

Hopefully your 9 month break isn't too hard on you!

I love having a father with too much time on his hands. I've been gone for 6 months and he always keeps my toys running while I'm gone.

Full tank of ethanol-free gas with stabilizer. If you don't have stands to lift the wheels off the ground then use a rubber pad and higher tire pressures. Depending on conditions, mouse and insect deterrents.

Keeps the fuel from gumming up with age. Make sure it's made for ethanol gas.

Also - I'm going to assume you meant "ship" and not "****" because that's a whole other problem to solve.

Remove the battery. This eliminates parasitic drain. Also allows battery to be on tender, though I think it is a bad idea to just leave any battery on any tender.

Lube chain.

Center stand.

Stabil or other quality stabilizer. Fill with fresh gas when you return.

It does something to the gas that prevents it from gumming up and prevents any water that gets absorbed from pooling up. I add it to any carbureted engine that will sit for more than 2 weeks. It doesn't hurt to add it to your bike too.

Stabil is the good stuff. Put it in a carb'd motorcycle. Sat for 9 months. Started right up and never needed any carb work.

Appliance - I did indeed mean 'ship' rather than '****'. Quite an appropriate typo though - after giving her a full treatment to go into storage yesterday, I realised I now have ANOTHER problem - the wires from the neutral sensor have obviously started to go (as happened to another member here). She wouldn't find neutral unless I gave the white plastic cover over them a good wiggle. Yay.

I've come to the conclusion that every aspect of owning a Ducati is ****, other than the most important one; the feeling you get when you ride her.


Oh I fully intend to man. That's why she's in storage - until I get back here mid next year - when I'll find a shipper to bring my bikes and tools over before I head back out.

not trying to be a nosy beggar , but just wondered if you were using a professional storage place ? Reason I ask is that I'm looking for a place to store in UK and it's bit harder than I thought finding a good place at a reasonable price.
