Starter Motor Replacement DIY

I certainly considered uprating the cables on my 2013 821 before I got into this thread, because it definitely improved starting on a Monster S4r I had briefly. However, the symptoms of my HS so closely resembled those described i.e. perfect cold starts but difficulty with hot starting, I just dived into the starter motor swap. The Denso starter does seem to be a much superior unit just when rotating it by hand. What with lockdown and back problems, I haven't yet put the bike to a full test beyond a quick and instantaneous fire-up, but hope to enjoy it from May 1st.

I should probably do this. I swapped my starter but I'm having to warm my Li battery up way too long to turn the engine over when it's cold. Warm weather or motor, it's fine. No very fast and super crisp, but OK.

Thanks for the link Nick! It was cold when it was struggling to start, so it could just be the battery. Once I get it home and look it over I’ll find out a bit more.

Those upgraded cables seem like quality. Definitely keeping this in mind if my 939 starts giving me an problems.
