anyone heard of a recall for a seal missing on the steering head upper bearing?

Any more official info, guys? certain batch numbers, countries, etc.?

odi.nhtsa has nothing, though, it doesn't help that "Hyperstrada" isn't even listed as a 2013 model...

My dealer said today there is an imminent recall on something and to get the bike in asap. Nothing else said

From the dealer….

….."Hi, David,
There is a Ducati Technical Service Bulletin TSB-14-001 for your Hyperstrada to install a protective rubber cap on top of the steering head. We have the parts in stock to perform this Warranty update. There is no cost to you."…..

Can't tell from looking at mine if its ok or not. Looks like there is a seal but can still See a gap. Here's a picture of mine, can someone please compare to their own that have had a recall notice. Thanks

I have taken the image of the steering head of my new Hyper and there is a rubber seal. It's a Thai assembled model.

Just had a look at mine - no seal. Looks like the Aussie delivered bikes will need a recall also.

I've got the same view as Mentalist. So I think Ambientscape is one of the lucky guys.

So we get the cap installed in a recall. It's about 1 hr work for the mechanic, maybe more. Maybe combine it with an oil change!

It is also possible that they require it to be performed before a certain date, had a recall on my monster 1100 evo. Had to be done before a certain date, the dealer even had to get a bike from a customer who was ill at that time.

Waiting now for a word from my dealer.

Regards.

How on earth did they missed the rubber seal? I better hope they dont missed anything in the engine part on the assembly line.

The QA checker was probably on an espresso/smoke break when that batch ran through the line...

Mine seems to have a seal up there...and I have not received a letter. Bought it last May.

It's the price you pay for an italian beauty...... :D
They f#ck up things, sometimes....

When things go wrong they do a recall and when things go right, they really go right and we can enjoy them.

Regards.

Thanks for posting the picture, confirms that mine needs the recall. Must be a lot of bikes out there that need the seal. If the dealers miss it on pdi. We stand little chance of spotting it missing.

I gots no seal. No notice from dealer, either. Funny, they hate it when you reference forums or the interwebs but damn if I didn't know before they did.

Looks like mine is missing, too... bought in Austria.

is it part Nr. 93010041B from the spare parts catalog?

Since this part doesn't look like the rubber seal from ambientscape.
