Sidestand Sensor Issue?

Hey everyone,

I was having a slight issue with the Hyperstrada and was wondering if anyone had some ideas.

So I'm all suited up to commute to work this morning, bike starts up fine, I put up the kickstand, pop it in first gear, and the bike immediately shuts off. I tried several times with no success. I know that there is a (micros?) sensor that detects if the kickstand is down to safely shut off the bike. I contacted my dealer but I was unable to talk to someone about it because I was at work all day during their business hours.

I unplugged/replugged the pig tie mounted on the frame that leads down to the kickstand sensor and still no luck. Thoughts? Please excuse my mechanical ignorance, I haven't worked on a bike myself for about 10 years. Thanks!

Thanks for the help! I saw a Youtube video of someone doing that, I'll prob do that as a temporary fix. Is what you are talking about a permanent fix or more something to get by? If it's something that falls under warranty (the bike is 4.5 months old), the dealer should fix it. I hope.

You can bypass the switch by inserting a jumper wire on the connector.

Correct... at least until you take it to the dealer. They should replace the switch. Personally, I am reluctant to bypass safety systems.

Yeah jumper till you can get it replaced at the dealer so you can still ride.. Give the parts desk/service desk a heads up that you had to that, and get them to order a new switch so its in stock when you bring the bike in.
