I know this is away from what the 'Strada was designed for, but I don't do much highway riding so I wanted to get rid of or shorten my windscreen. Ducati sells their Carbon screen"¦.but for a cheap $240+ shipping"¦.what a deal

So I found this:

Fabbri GEN-X Sport Screen, Ducati Hypermotard/Hyperstrada 821, PJ's Parts

I found it on their Italian site, but contacted PJ Parts because I saw that he was a dealer. He hadn't seen that screen yet but ordered one up for me. On ebay, it was around $110, plus $75 shipping from Italy! But from PJ it was $87 plus $7 shipping; Not bad!

Everyone may not like the looks, but I'm sort of shifting my bikes style a bit to suit my needs/wants/yada-yada"¦. Just thought I would share just-in-case someone else wanted a sportier screen.

It's cool. If mine was purely a joyrider, I would go more edgy and naked.

My only critique is that the mirrors look like big floppy ears now. In this case, I would probably go lower profile mirrors or even the bar-ends.

I like it, less then $100, and in 30 seconds of time and one tool toucan make the bike look much more aggressive.

Yeah, I agree. I'll be pulling the mirrors. I'm not sure if I'm going to order sportier ones yet, or not. I also ordered some black mx bars and more of a "supermoto" style hand guard that would offer some protection if I did lay it down.

Once I actually get all the parts and get my bike back from the darn dealer for those forks, I'll post pics.

Tell us how it goes and some pic.
Those standard handguards is only for cosmetic and break to easy.

What will you do / how will you put the turn signal lamps that are integrated as standard?

Hope I have the Carbon Windshield from Ilmberger Carbon Shop end of the week, price 159.90 Euro! I make a picture.

I like it. I've always preferred the half sized black carbon one to the stocker purely because it looks much cooler - IMHO. I definitely like some of the added "stuff" of the 'strada, but I want to make it a bit more 'motard looking - a little more aggressive - and this would help tons.

I really like the price of this Gen X one because the carbon Ducati model is freaking expensive as michdave says. But I'd toss 120 bucks at this. It's definitely now on my list :)

Here's a few pictures (excuse the messy garage).

It's not bad. I'm not crazy about the lack of contour (sort of "flat" looking), but the black goes goo with everything else. I'm unsure of what I'm going to do blinkers wise. I'm thinking that I may go with a new slimmer mirror with built in blinkers.

Oh, and heads up"¦I liked the way that Hyper-Ice bike looked (from Indians) with MX handlebars on it, so I ordered some sweet flat black Protaper handlebars that I was installing also"¦.They don't fit. LOL Our stock bars have a very narrow pinch area where they bolt up to the upper tipple, and a very long flat control area where all of our grips/mirrors/levers/switches/etc bolt on and MX bars are the opposite. So after pulling the front end apart (including removing the upper triple to re-route brake lines) I found that they didn't work. There are a few bends that offer a longer control area (only 18mm more than my KX HI bends) but that still leaves your levers bolted on somewhat of a curved area and makes the feel funny to grab).

I'm going to keep playing around and see if I can find some others. I would like to go a touch taller also, but the brake line really limits that.

hmmm…I don't know why these are sideways or upside down. They downloaded normal on my computer and the forum won't let me rotate them.

Hmmm...it is knida "flat" innit? I might toss the extra hundred at the carbon one. F'k it what's a couple hundred on a 16k bike?

Thanks for sharing.
I've been looking for the past week for a plastic version. It seems to make sense to me Ducati would have a plastic version and then a carbon fiber version.
Looks like the biggest difference between what you got and Ducati's is the top is round on the Ducati version. Yeah, I'm not paying $240 for their carbon fiber version either.
What did you think of this windscreen from Fabbri Fabbri Windscreen for Ducati Hypermotard 08-12, PJ's Parts?

I'm considering this one by Fabbri as well http://www.pjsparts.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=5100 for the long highway rides. Would have been great a few weeks ago when I rode down to Big Bend Texas.
