I joined this awesome forum back in October I think. I made one post introducing myself and then proceeded to read just about every post you guys put up learning as much as I could about Ducati's.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I did in fact, on my birthday this year, purchase a 2014 Hypermotard SP. For almost 6 months I had this planned and spent a lot of time gathering as much information on the Hyperstrada and Hypermotard that I could. I joined a number of different forums but in the end, this one was the one I kept coming back to the most.

The regulars on this site are the best. All of you guys are patient (very important), courteous, and very well informed. It was the post on this site that gave me most all of the information I was looking for when making my decision on which bike to purchase.

I know this is a 'strada' forum, but I'll be hanging out with you guys from now on even though I went the SP way. I've enjoyed being a part of the community and look forward to many more days to come. So thanks to all the regular guys and everyone else for posting informative and interesting post.

Oh yeah, btw....I LOVE THIS BIKE!

Congrats! I can only echo those compliments about the site, glad you've joined us. ;)

It's just because the bike & site are still new. Give it some time. We'll get super fickle and condescending.

like i've said before, if i were taller, i would've gotten the sp and stradafied it

cool photo, congrats. except for those reflectors. they seem out of place on the hystrada, much less on the sp IMO. just curious, is there a regulation in the states requiring those reflectors on the fork shields and license plate holder?

I'm not sure, I haven't thought to ask. It's been a number of years since I've rode on the streets and have been a bit nervous about being a newbie. I figure the better they see me the better I'll be.

I plan on doing some track days on it and can see removing them then. Good idea on checking the regs though, I'll do that and let you know

It is a tall bike, I'm 5"11 and can only touch with my toes both feet. If it were taller I'd have to do something for sure. I'm thinking about trying out the 'touring' seat and switch them out depending on how I'm planning on riding.

Welcome to the forum. SP, no problem...at least you are riding an 821. Unlike others, this forum is not cluttered with posts about the old air cooled models. The 821 is an entirely different animal!

PS yes the reflectors are a DOT requirement. My front ones fell off when I had the forks done...
