The Single Life - Thumpers

Thought I'd better post a pic of the Gilera NordWest but the site doesn't invite uploading your own images, only url's. Is there a trick to this?

Thanks for that.

OK, here's the Gilera NordWest 600. Monoshock rear, USD front with twin discs and a 50BHP DOHC single that runs very smoothly for a single. Excellent handling and the suspension is quite plush.

As made in 1994, the bike would have had very brash cosmetics but fortunately a previous owner decided Ducati red would look better and I SO agree! The Nordie was the last true Gilera before the owners, Piaggio, shut down the Arcore factory and then revived the name for mopeds and scooters.

Highly recommended!

Nick

Since my HS broke down in October I’ve had to press my little LS650 into service as my main means of transportation. Which means that for the last 3700 miles I have literally beaten the snot out of this bike all the while having no money to give it proper maintenance.
And after all of the punishment I’ve thrown at it the past winter all that’s gone wrong is a loose header bolt and fork seals slightly leaking. I have a new found respect for the toughness and durability of this neanderthal of motorcycles.

Just an update on my LS650. I've retrofitted the front end of an 85 Kawasaki ZL900 Eliminator onto it.
It's got dual front brakes now!20191027_174023(1).jpg

I recently acquired a Derbi Mulhecan 659 for not a lot of money unfortunately it had been used as a commuter, so it had suffered the ravages of UK winter roads.
After a lot of time and effort to get it repainted, the hot start issues and the piss poor wiring sorted it is ready to rock and roll, then came the coronavirus!!!
