It's been a fun ride mostly but after 5 years of not knowing if the clutch will engage smoothly, or stall, or bunny hop into the intersection, of poor fuelling at low rpm, hunting on a constant throttle at around town speeds, having to grip the throttle housing to maintain a constant speed due the the feather light fly by wire throttle, having to physically look down to see the dash, no fuel gauge or gear indicator and a few other peeves I started looking around at other rides. What a revelation to ride some well sorted all-round competent machines again. My short list was the Tenere, 2019/20 Honda CB500X, Wee Strom and I also had a look at a couple of cheap options RE Himalaya and an SWM. Even the cheap bikes were smooth and tractable. Yes many of my 'issues' with the Hyper can be solved with more $'s - anti judder clutch upgrade, Rexxer etc but it was time for a change and an easier ride. Looking forward to reacquainting myself with the New Zealand back roads and places less traveled that I previously enjoyed. Cheers.
