What MPG is everyone getting?

I use my bike for a daily commuter through London doing around 20 miles per day. Over 500 miles I have only achieved 39mpg.

What MPG does everyone else achieve and what sort of riding do you mainly do?

I work in the city too. Come in from the north. Only ever seen 1 Hyperstrada here!!

When I was commuting on the highway I was seeing 48mpg regularly. Now that I do short trips primarily I am seeing about 38-40. On a weekend canyon ride I will get about 45. It just has a lot to do with keeping your momentum.

Cruising on the highway I tend to get mid 50s - about the same as my DR650. One of the advantages of fuel injection.

Pretty much always in the low to mid 50s since ive had it even wailing on it and cruising 85 plus MPH and a few mountain trips and a bit of bumper to bumper traffic.

Am at about 1600 miles.

Is there a difference in mpg between UK and USA ? I think yes, right ?

So, difficult to compare. I will add a third measurement ;-).

mine uses between 5 l / 100 km in "touring mode" on vacation, about 5,5-6 l /100km at normal use and up to 9 l /100km at trackdays

Miles per US Gallon

During longer the Hyper gets around 50-52 MPG US
Commuting, stop and go traffic, or flogging the Hyper gets 42-46 MPG US
1 US gallon = 3.78 liter = .83 imperial gallon

Where is it where you live? I've seen a white strada near lambeth north before, followed him down old Kent Road but I turned off on new Rotherhithe road.

I'm working in belgravia at the moment with my next project being Grosvenor street

I live just outside the M25, near South Mimms services (so kinda the northmost point of the M25). Have been down the old kent road a couple of times but always in the evening.

I normally follow the A1 into the city. Have definitely spotted a red one on Holloway Road before.

My 2015 gets about 40 MPG in fast country road riding. 50-55 MPG on longer rides with less twisties. Fuel is from the US West Coast. Low fuel light usually comes on around 120 miles.

Assuming the onboard average consumption readout is correct, I get mid-50s (US). I'm just a little over 4K miles on my 2013, and just had the throttle grip recall (and ECU reflash) done (and also the steering head rubber cap recall). That mileage is with most of my riding being a spirited hustle through the nearby mountains. Sweet!

On my bike at least, the onboard MPG measurements are very very optimistic. I regularly see low 50s on the display, but actual measurement usually ends up being low- to mid-40s.

On the trip computer, but just worked out that probably equates to 45-50 mpg uk in reality

I usually only put between 10 and 12ltrs max (uk) when I fill the bike and that's usually with around 120 miles on clock and burping the tank!

only ever once got near 14ltrs and that's when it ran out as I approached filling station!!!

There's lots of old threads on this subject. This bike is pretty dirty above 70 mph, especially with side bags.

I personally got 175 US miles on a tank with all highway/ backroads and being very conservative with throttle. I hated it and just did to see whats possible.

The fuel light is pretty optimistic. You can comfortably go another 20 miles with the light on. I do this regularly and have never run this bike out of gas.

Expect about 130 miles/tank (US) if you flog it in city type driving. Normal hwy use about 150.

I personally think 40mpg is amazing with the power this engine produces. And go boring if you want 50+.

I've seen as few as 110 miles at the light (doing 93 indicated down the interstate), and as many as 140 at the light (doing mostly 65 indicated).

Most of the time I'll go around 20 miles after the light, but I've gone as far as 45 and still been fine. I wouldn't attempt to go past 30 though if you're away from home.

If CA-Cycleworks or someone else makes an extended tank, expect me to be first on the list. This kind of range doesn't lend itself well to iron-butt-like riding.

I just surpassed 18,000mi on my bike.
Stock final drive 51-52 mpg
3 less teeth on back sprocket.. 54-55mpg
( I highly recommend dropping the size of rear sprocket if you do any kind of long distance touring on this bike... it really opens up your gearing for highway/interstate speeds )

I used to get almost 50 when I was commuting, but last time I filled up I got 35! The type of riding makes a huge difference.

Yeah I just topped my old record of worst gas mileage with this bike. I filled it on the centerstand, and hit the fuel light at only 91 miles. Flying down the interstate into a strong headwind, no side bags, but I had my trunk on.
