Wheel upgrade

also keep in mind that ducati superbike wheels (1098, 1198, 1199 >) are 6-inch wide versus our wheels of 5.5 inches. has anybody tried putting on a 6-inch wheel to the hyperstrada? how about clearance issues?

Having experimented with this in the past, going bigger on tire and/or rim size on the back slows the steering down and increases effort at the handlebars. You may or may not like this. I didn't!

Huh. I think the bike would settle just fine with a little settling at the bars. Interesting...

Well, I actually got out on an ride having bedded in the tyres. As already commented, the steering is light anyway so the two main things I have managed to feel are that ride has improved and there is a bit more precision in the steering.

Its difficult to find the words to gauge the changes and they are not night and day, just subtle improvements.
The improvement in the ride and the steering precision may be down to the new tires rather than the rims.

Fitted a pair of Carrozzeria Forged wheels. This came about following an encounter with a bit of wood half way round a right hand bend. Just caught it on the right side of the tire and it clipped the edge of the front rim and folded it back like a the lid of sardine can. $1,650A for an OEM rim or $2,000A for the pair of after markets.
As the advertising says, the single biggest performance enhancement you can make is lightweight wheels. The front is .8kg lighter than the OEM rim and I didn't weigh the rear. The bike is like a 250, feels so much lighter and flickable. I added a couple of clicks to the steering damper to keep it nice and settled. Real happy with the results.

I've seen worse, and made a similar one for my GTR1000 many years ago...cut a piece for the back of my HS's seat, for the wifey. She appreciates the extra padding, especially over the tail as the passenger section is a bit short for a mature lady!

Back on subject, I see that the Carrozzeria site lists these same wheels for all Hypers...and they only show a 6" rear. Personally, I'd rather stick with a 5.5.

I appreciate the point. At some later point I may swap back to the original wheels and try some back to back riding the same stretch of road.

HyperPedro - like the wheels - the end can - which one is it?

i know this is an old thread but... i can add that due to my front wheel having more bends in it than the isle of man tt course . i have just replaced it with a wheel from an mts 1200 multistrada ,which fits straight on.
i didn't need the rear wheel so i can not comment on that .

I could think of about 5,000 things your money would be better spent on than upgrading your wheels. If you want a race bike, buy a race bike.
