698 Engine Leak

Hi all, my 698 has just over 7,500 miles and developed an oil leak on the motor just above/behind the starter location.

Bike is already at the dealership and they let me know they will be taking the motor apart to fix the leak, all covered under warranty.

I highlighted the spots the leak appeared to originate from in this picture I pulled from the internet.

Not sure if it was a Friday afternoon at the factory, or might be a weak point in the motor. Keep an eye out.

Thats good mileage... how did u spot the leak - drips on the floor, smell ?

Thanks got the bike pretty early, back in Feb 2024, done a couple longer rides and trackdays since getting it. Also a lot of freeway miles since I commute with it. At first I noticed a smell as if I was burning oil but nothing was apparent. After a few days of riding, I started seeing drips on the floor after getting home from work.

Update, got the bike back and all is well after the tear down and rebuild. couldn't explain why this happened further than it being a random occurrence.
Had a starting issue prior to taking the bike in and that appears to be gone. Dealer said they could not replicate that issue.

Glad you got your bike back.

So what exactly did they tear down and rebuild? What new parts did they put in?
