Just a quick heads-up after my recent experience. I asked the dealer to look at my chain as I was doubting myself when measuring tension. They checked it and said it was too tight. I asked them to adjust it and when they checked again it measured too slack! At first they thought the chain had developed tight spots (in 2700km…) so they replaced it only to find that the new chain jerked around the same as the old one.
It ended up being the drive sprocket badly machined from the factory! Chain and sprocket covered under Ducati warranty.
The times I’d checked the chain previously it’s been within 46-48mm so I must’ve just been lucky/unlucky that it hadn’t been hung up on the front sprocket at that moment. Of course you should always look for tight points on the chain but I just figured that with it being so new that I didn’t need to bother.
So I guess this is a long winded way of saying don’t take anything for granted!
