Dead in 12

She's home ! Just got back , they flashed the computer it starts fine . When I picked it up the frist time ran rough . It was my first Ducati so I though that was normal on idle . Man I was wrong this thing is purring like a kitten now .

ARGH!! Add me to the - hopefully very short - list of guys who ran into this. Exactly as Zeke says, it's not a "hard start" it's an absolute zero start.

My buddy and I were having a great ride yesterday, stopped at a Tim's for a coffee, got out, had a quick self deprecating laugh about how the 'strada looks a little like an angry chicken from the front [I still love how it looks], put my key in, got the usual pre-start feedback from the digital readout, and...nothing! Absolutely no response from the starter - no solenoid click, no nothing...of course we tried everything, fuses, etc. Because I had read this thread before, I have a feeling that it will be the same issue...

BTW: I had about 750 KM on the bike up to yesterday, so be warned that this issue - assuming it's the same thing - can happen at any time. Don't ride without a cell phone!!

BTW2: my dealer loaned me a Monster as it's a long weekend here in Canada and he didn't want me to be bikeless. Very nice motor on the Monster - 796 - but I'm not a fan of the bike. I know these are loved by many, so to each their own :) I miss my Hyperstrada like crazy already :-(

Is he going to remover the carbon cannister? Mine "fell off" during 600mi service. They confirmed they have many issues with this system.

Keep us up to date what they find. I wonder if there is a sensor that is falling just out side its normal range the computer picks it up as a fault.

Ok, its dead, bike has 99 miles on a full tank so its not full up, and its dead on start, it all lights up but still nothing. Recovery truck is on its way.

Anyone tried dumping clutch on the roll with these zombie bikes? Like when you have a dead battery on a manual car. Might bypass whatever computer is blocking on startup

Ok, took it to the dealer, just called them. ECU Canban system had a critical error which they cleared and then the bike started , they took it for a ride and then the Throttle Position sensor is no longer being recognised by the ECU. I had a Healtech gear position sensor/ indicator plugged in but took this out when it wouldn't learn. The dealer have now disconnected its power lead also. Now I dont know if the ECU caused the Healtech to not learn or vice versa. If they get it working I'll be scared to connect it back up.

Sounds like the dealers should assemble and test ride each bike then automatically reflash the ECU.

Well, I think it's a very small sample issue at 1 so far (on this forum). Let's not forget the aftermarket part he hooked up to the brain. It's not like it's wi-fi enabled and can download drivers on the fly.

It does concern me about something my dealer said should be an easy fix with the throttle-by-wire = cruise control. I'm a cc junkie and long haul my bike to work couple days a week. I'd love a proper digital affair over the metal bar lock jobs currently offered as quick fixes.

I like CC also, and was leaning towards getting another Multi1200 mainly because "TuneBoy" has wriitten the code to provide CC on that bike, plus tuneing ability.

Not sure if we have the same ECU on this bike, but CC by Tuneboy would be a pretty big deal!

Bad weather here in Nova Scotia last little while have only done 300 km or so . No repeats so far. When mine was at dealer they tried to push start with no luck. ( slipper clutch )

Hey Gatdammit, when your carbon canister fell off did they plug both injector vacumn lines separately. The reason I ask is mine also fell off but I noticed there is one hose connecting both injectors together instead of blocking each injectors vacumn port separately. Doesn't make any sense to me. Each injector is sucking on the other injector. I was told it balances out the injectors. I think I'll plug each one separately, but I wanted some opinions first.
