Dead in 12

I'll have to check but I would always plug vacuum ports. The link Jer or ST posted about removing on other models just looped the line as well.

I've done a Canisterectomy on very BMW I've owned by simply plugging the injector vacumn ports and running the tank vent lines to the ground. Always left the electronic controller alone because supposedly it would throw a computer fault if you disconnected the 12 volt power feed.

I just heard from my dealer and they've confirmed that it's an ECU issue as I'd expected. No idea how long it will take to get resolved. They're a brand new Ducati dealer, so I don't know how well connected they are to the hive, so to speak.

"Fortunately" the weather here is pure sheeeit right now. I still have my Monster loaner and still really don't dig it at all...

Got it back today. dealer says there were a limited number of bikes that came out the factory with problem software on their ECU's, this causes the dead bike issue. They downloaded the newest software from Ducati (2 versions newer than my bikes original version). The software had no instructions so only by trial and error did they find out to load the software and reset the TPS.
Now to get the Healtech working

Hmm. Did you get anymore details on the software release? Like when it was released or any other early bugs it fixed. I personally don't know of any software issues with my Strada but ya never know.

My bike has not wanted to start twice after refueling. I got it to start by cranking while holding the throttle half open. Hopefully that helps someone with the same problem.

You better do a Canisterectomy Several of us removed it already. Been in the handbook, Ducati says you could have hard starting issues from fuel getting into the canister. Get rid of it!

I tried but my dealer said he could go to jail for taking the damn thing out so he would not do it! Since I am NOT mechanically inclined, I won't try to do it myself. Any suggestions?

Lets get together and I'll do it for you...

I was standing in my garage today and the canister just fell right off on to my feet.

I picked mine up the first day of release and have had stalls/no restart twice. Both times i got it started after some time. Patience and old mech tricks i use on FI engines. The first time was definatley a software issue because i got a check engine warning. The second i think was the canister issue because it behaved flooded when trying to restart so i tricked it into starting.
There have been 2 software updates that i know off the last was released Friday 24th because they flashed the ECU again at my 1000k on saturday 25th.
Havent had the no crank, not looking forward to that little gem...

I had the ECU flashed on mine one the 22nd of May, give or take. My dealer commented that, according to Ducati, the issue isn't yet fully resolved. What it boils down to is the bike is fantastic and I love it to death..but I don't trust it. It's quite frustrating to go for a ride on a bike with a fit and finish that has resulted in quite a few lookers comparing it to a Ferrari but which I can't trust will start when I gas up...sheesh. It shouldn't be a "luxury" to expect a premium quality bike to *start*.
