Well had my white hyperstrada for nearly 3 weeks now and in that time hand put approaching 2000 miles on her. Did a trip to Assen for the motoGP followed by a trip to Snetterton the following weekend for the BSB round. So far I I have been nothing but totally impressed with the way it gas performed.Like other hyper owners on this forum I have had a few false neutrals up and down the higher gears but that seems to be diminishing as the miles increase. In common with others too I also have problems with getting panniers on and off. What position should the key slot be in when the panniers are on bike? On mine they are at right angles across the bike and the barrel will not turn to the front to rear position as indicated in manual ?
The engine is proving very frugal even now its fully run in often returning 60 + miles to the gallon even with spirited riding, how Ducati have managed to provide excellent performance with fabulous economy is amazing.Up to legal speeds its quite comfortable and gives adequate wind protection but I am only about 5 feet 7 and would think anyone really tall may not find this so and may feel a little cramped. Also the pillion seat is not that large and could do with being a little bigger in every dimension. Its really quick through the gears and its so torquey it does not need to be in lower gears for overtakes.Vibration through bars is minimal and not too obtrusive not as much as my vstrom 650 or my previous Ducati the Mts1200. The exhaust note also sounds fruity and sporty as standard, a comment made by a friend who said it sounded lovely when following me wearing ear plugs and a Scala headset !For me the hyperstrada is like a mini multistrada 1200 and maybe due to my height is a better bike for it being so.I did love my Mutley but do feel the extra performance and weight of the larger bike takes it to a place where I didn't think Adventure bikes really belong.Although blindingly fast, the front at speed felt too light due to riding position and larger front wheel.I am not against performance and speed, as I traded the Mutley in for a new Repsol Fireblade last year.Although faultless, excellent performance, easy to use and planted at speed, I feel the Hyperstrada gives perfect performance exactly where I would say the majority if riders need it.In fact when I first pulled away on demo bike I thought how could anyone ride these things as it felt like a moto crosser on speed.Within an hour the grin on my face said it all.I enjoyed it so much more than any other bike I had ridden and 3 weeks later still feel that way. After riding bikes for more than thirty years most of which were high performance sports bikes, I am now just going out on bike for fun on roads I don't need to go on for as long as possible, as often as possible and grinning from ear to ear every time.Take one for an hour or two but by then think most people would be smitten
