Well had my white hyperstrada for nearly 3 weeks now and in that time hand put approaching 2000 miles on her. Did a trip to Assen for the motoGP followed by a trip to Snetterton the following weekend for the BSB round. So far I I have been nothing but totally impressed with the way it gas performed.Like other hyper owners on this forum I have had a few false neutrals up and down the higher gears but that seems to be diminishing as the miles increase. In common with others too I also have problems with getting panniers on and off. What position should the key slot be in when the panniers are on bike? On mine they are at right angles across the bike and the barrel will not turn to the front to rear position as indicated in manual ?
The engine is proving very frugal even now its fully run in often returning 60 + miles to the gallon even with spirited riding, how Ducati have managed to provide excellent performance with fabulous economy is amazing.Up to legal speeds its quite comfortable and gives adequate wind protection but I am only about 5 feet 7 and would think anyone really tall may not find this so and may feel a little cramped. Also the pillion seat is not that large and could do with being a little bigger in every dimension. Its really quick through the gears and its so torquey it does not need to be in lower gears for overtakes.Vibration through bars is minimal and not too obtrusive not as much as my vstrom 650 or my previous Ducati the Mts1200. The exhaust note also sounds fruity and sporty as standard, a comment made by a friend who said it sounded lovely when following me wearing ear plugs and a Scala headset !For me the hyperstrada is like a mini multistrada 1200 and maybe due to my height is a better bike for it being so.I did love my Mutley but do feel the extra performance and weight of the larger bike takes it to a place where I didn't think Adventure bikes really belong.Although blindingly fast, the front at speed felt too light due to riding position and larger front wheel.I am not against performance and speed, as I traded the Mutley in for a new Repsol Fireblade last year.Although faultless, excellent performance, easy to use and planted at speed, I feel the Hyperstrada gives perfect performance exactly where I would say the majority if riders need it.In fact when I first pulled away on demo bike I thought how could anyone ride these things as it felt like a moto crosser on speed.Within an hour the grin on my face said it all.I enjoyed it so much more than any other bike I had ridden and 3 weeks later still feel that way. After riding bikes for more than thirty years most of which were high performance sports bikes, I am now just going out on bike for fun on roads I don't need to go on for as long as possible, as often as possible and grinning from ear to ear every time.Take one for an hour or two but by then think most people would be smitten

panniers lock problem

A little drop of WD40 in the lock will do the trick.
Mine go off and on without any problem.
At first i had to juse an skrewdriver!

Cheers for tip on WD40 key just does not want to turn to straight ahead position should it only be able to turn to this position when locked onto bike or should key turn freely even when pannier is off bike? Many thanks
:)

I can turn the key free when the panniers are off the bike.
There is only one possition to take the key out of the lock. When the panniers are locked to the bike that is.

Cheers I will try a squirt of wd40 and hope this helps have read elsewhere on forum that some barrels incorrectly fitted so hopefully WD40 will do the trick. Now moto3 finished I will nip into the garage thanks again :thumbup:

Don't nowe how much is ' a squirt' but the lock only needs a small drop.......

Seems OK now cheers think got confused as to position of barrel when on and off so may not have helped:mad:

I'm going on 2500 miles and feel the bike is exactly what I wanted: utility + fun. Had to get a new set of rotors and still don't like the feel and operation of front suspension but, the bike is still phenomenal in curves and has not scared me once.

I question your mileage or, my engine is losing mpg's somewhere. On a typical 90 mile roundtrip to work, I cruise at 75-80 mph for about 60 miles, with the rest rural/city trafffic and stop lights. I do my best to stay ahead of traffic when able and give it the beans on the hwy from time to time. I'm not a flat-out hooligan but I'm not trying to save the planet with hyper-mileage, either. I typically get 42-46 mpg, and could push this to 50 if I really tried.

My point is, when I'm getting mid-40's mpg's, the display says 50-51 mpg. Are you doing your own fuel calculations or just going by display?

My only problem now is that I want to hang more and more storage space on it so I have absolutely no need for my car anymore!

I think he is reporting imperial gallons. I get about 49mpg.

Totally agree on the comparison to the Multi1200. Little more room on the Multi12, but this bike is even lighter and has plenty of get up and go. My wife likes it fine for 2up also, no complaints.

159 miles 12.2 litres in gallons in UK this is combination of cruising at legal speeds and still using performance through the gears when I can would be interesting to see exactly what owners were getting and who has gone the furthest on a full tank?? Supplying dealer informed me once fuel warning comes on don't do more than 30 miles .........

That is about right from the dealer. I got 193 to empty once.
