Gunk in oil?

Added some top off oil about a week ago. Noticed next day their was a milky residue in sight window. Changed the oil today and just happened to inspect the oil plug and shocked to see a milky white gummy substance packed into the top of the plug. Sort of resembled white lithium grease and felt like it when I rolled it in my fingers. The filter screen had a small thread of the stuff, about half inch long. Only one small metal shaving, on the bright side.

She runs fine but I am a little concerned. I've added same top off oil (Amsoil) numerous times before, though it had been a while over the winter while the bike mostly sat in a garage.

Sorry pics are so large. Should I be really worried?

My buddies 2013 Multi exhibits the same condition. He "commutes" to work on it every day...about 1 mile. It's not getting up to operating temperature and motor oil doesn't like that at all.
I assume you're running oil of the correct viscosity for the conditions you ride in. Since Shell Advance 4T Ultra isn't readily available in the US, the motor oil of choice out here seems to be Motul 300V 4T Synthetic, 15W-50.

Try changing oil brand. We had a Toyota dealer in my country who used Amsoil and encountered same problem.

@gatdammit

How long did your Bike parked in your garage. I park my bike in Winter for 3 months in an unheated garage and when I take it out in spring every time I see this in the sight window and it's more. After a few rides it will slowly go a way.
It happens if you don't drive a longer time and you have a temerature difference between summer and winter.

From my point, you don't have to worried!

No worries, just condensation due to cold start and short runs, take bike for a good blast and then remove filler cap for a few hours, remembering to refit before next start, any condensation should evapourate.

Yea, that's just condensation - I ride year round and the oil on both bikes looks like that due to the short rides in cold temps. No worries.

Thank the two-wheeled Gods! My coolant level was a little low so I was starting to worry about water pump issues, though, I did get the common hose leak recently.

I really hope the site gauge clears. Hard to read oil level and don't know how I'd ever get it clean again.

I just added Amsoil 20W-50. It's not a weight a lot of you run but it's what Amsoil recommends for 821 (and most Duc smaller twins). Again, my original dealer ran Amsoil in it and they had a racing program, so I trusted they knew fluids. And that OEM Shell stuff is harder to find than unicorn sperm.
