Hypermotard stock seat, comfortable?

Yesterday I finally saw a 2013 Hypermotard in person and had a chance to sit on it. Unfortunatelly no test ride yet. It's the first unit and currently the only unit at the dealership. They won't have Hyperstrada until August or September.

Anyway, I sat on the Motard and even though I can't flat footed... I find the seat is about the same height as F800GS and T800XC that I'm also considering... I think I won't have any problem riding it. But the seat on the Hypermotard feels hard.

My first reaction impression when I sat on it was whoa it's hard. I even touched and pressed the seat to make sure that it has foam on it.

So my question to 2013 Hypermotard owner here, how do you find the seat in a long ride, ride longer than 2 hours? Is it commfortable, or is it uncomfortable?

thanks in advance,
Bob

The Strada seat is different from Motard. I'm not sure if you're aware of that by reading your post. Strada seat has a very comfy memory foam filler, which I have done 2 hours on and my butt does fine. Think it's got a longer valley for more fwd/back movement and the Strada sits lower than stock Motard.

Most comfortable stock seat I've ever felt. On past bikes, I would have been shopping for a Corbin or something by now. I have no desire to swap this one.

Thanks gatdammit.

I figured the seats are different cause I read in this forum that the Strada seats are comfortable, while the seat on the Motard was quite hard.

There is a lower seat for the strada too, which is very hard, trust me i tried it and opted for the standard touring seat.

I purchased a hypermotard SP seat. It's very hard and uncomfortable, but you do get a little more movement front to back because it's flatter. The stock Hyperstrada seat is comfortable providing you are happy with the position of it. I need comfort and a little more front to back room and don't need a passenger pillion taking up my space. I can't wait for Corbin or others to make a solo seat

I have the lower strada seat and my 2-1/2 hr ride to the dealer and back a couple of weeks ago got to be a little painful towards the end. I am thinking about going back to my original seat if I have a long ride infront of me.

I would like a little more room to the rear, but the seat is pretty comfortable. I just find myself trying to scoot back and then sliding down the rise in the rear. Just need a couple more inches.

as the archbishop said to the vicar lol:D

One guy had a slick top case that had a little 3" or so backrest that matched up with the rise in the seat. I find I have to force myself to sit that far back. Maybe it's just my svelte, athletically sculpted rump not filling out the whole scoop.

I bought the touring seat, and it is much more comfortable for long duration trips. Lots of room to change position, and firm support with out feeling hard.

Read a lot of complains about the hard 'Motard seat before getting the bike.

I am totally fine with it. It's hard but I kind of like it that way, lots of feedback from the street, good control in corners, and no issues on longer tours, at least for me. If I got on long straights I scoot back a bit and tuck the knees in for less wind resistance and more comfort. That's the standard Hypermotard seat, the Hyperstrada seat is different; I only sat on it in the showroom but didn't like the lower seating position. One reason to get the motard for me.

I'm 5'6" and had the stock HS seat modded to the point where there's just a hint of foam left so I'm not sitting directly on the pan. Even after this, my *** has never been a source of irritation on any ride yet. Like many peeps have mentioned, there's plenty of room to shift yourself around on the saddle which makes a difference on your body (not just your bum).

I chuckled a little when you qualified long ride being over 2 hours. When I'm doing multi-day trips with up to 10 hours a day in the saddle, then I use a an AirHawk cushion. I'm not sure any seat will be comfortable when you're riding that much.

Stock 'Strada seat is fine with me

Did a 900 mile ride over 5 days in the Sierras last July, two-up. 5 - 6 hours per day, all slow going with some stops, on really gnarly back roads. Some were graded dirt/gravel, a couple were solid bad potholes. I strapped an old piece of sheepskin on the back to extend the passenger accommodations, and we were both quite comfortable.

I've also done back-to-back 450 mile days solo, on slightly easier two lane roads with only fuel stops. Seat was perfect.

Honestly, I've had nearly 50 bikes in 49 years of riding on the street, and this one is a contender for the most comfortable ever.

i came from a hardtail mountainbike before going to the hyperstrada. on a weekly basis, i used to do 6-8 hour cross country training rides without rear suspension sitting on nothing more than a selle italia carbonio saddle weighing only 125 grams, so you can just imagine much material is left to sit on. the hyperstrada low seat version feels like butt heaven compared to where i came from, notwithstanding the rear suspension comfort the bike provides

point is, i think it's just a matter of getting used to it

I've done a couple day long rides so far. 10+ hrs and yes; this seat is comfy. The comfort slowly goes away pass the 6 or 7+ hrs but is barable up to 14. I'm about 180lbs.
