Hyperstrada fuel consumption/seat comfort

I have a pair of gloves that the fingers are a bit too short, it will make my hand go numb. I have to pull on the fingers to get some slack, then they are okay. Couple of other pair of gloves has more room and no problems.

Yeah, pretty sure that's my problem. There tactical gloves with carbon fiber (ish) knuckle inserts and I always said they would be awesome riding gloves. But, they're made for shooting bad people and punching things with extreme violence and I just don't think they have the mechanics for long rides.

I have a Pair of Klim's that I cant ware they make my thumb and fore finger on my right hand go to sleep.

I have a pair of Held gloves I bought 4 years ago. They cost me like 329 bucks. At the time, the salesman convinced me that it wasn't crazy to spend that much on gloves and he assured me I would be happy in the long run. I have to say, they are without a doubt the best damn gloves I have ever owned. They broke in quickly and are still in perfect condition after 60,000 miles of use.

I have a pair of Helds as well they are great golves, fit great last a long time, they just dont work with my current jacket.

I've not generally gone over 6000rpm, except once when i was doing approx 7500@110mph.
But avarage fuel consumption is 61mpg over 380miles, this is mainly in touring mode but aggressive accelerating upto 6000rpm and steady 70-80mph. A little in urban mode through heavy traffic and towns.
I found 6000rpm or just over would give me approx 90mph in top.
So mainly i've been short shifting through the gears.

Well I just did a 350 trip on the bike today. I took it to the dealer for the 600 mile service. It was all Interstate through the mountains running 70 to 80 mph. Got 50 mpg. The low fuel light came on at about 130 mi and I hit the gas station at 175 mi. Took about 3.5 gallons. I was riding one up and left the bags at home. So looks like I can get 185 to 190 miles if just taking it easy on the Interstate.

I just did 1900 miles from California to New Mexico up through Colorado and back. Let me say I am now on the lookout for a new seat because I thought I had just been in prison for four days. My *** hurt really bad, usually after about 50 miles each day. My fuel consumption ranged from 40-45 mpg in the city/intestate (90+ mph) to almost 55 mpg in the canyons taking it easy or when my speed was between 30 and 60 mpg. It was a great trip but the seat needs a lot of improvement.

I have the lower seat and my rear did get a bit sore towards the end of the ride. I did have a 3 hour break at the dealer while they serviced it. Did get to burgers and soda while there.

Well, I just purchased the Hypermotard SP seat. It's a little flatter and hard as a rock. I'll try it out today. The stock one kills me. I'm stuck in one position and can't move back at all. Hoping the aftermarket hurrys up with a solo design seat. I never ride a passenger.

Just took another 1 hour ride practice run all packed with panniers, topcase, tent, sleeping bag, and airmattress. No room behind the seat to move back an 1". Plan to go to Ouray and area, leaving wednesday.

The Paradox, I have a well tested qualified Super Tenere that I have already been to Alaska on, could take it to the Super Tenere rally in Ouray. But the Hyperstrada will be so much more fun if I can survive the long boring stretches. :D

I have been getting 46 mpg. I have been pushing the bike through twisty mountain roads upstate NY. Seat is fine. Three hours a clip. No problem .I do wonder, however, if I was back 1" to - 1.5" if it would be better. Not sure.

I don't know what most of you rode before but this is about as good as stock seats come. I consider myself to have a delicate ***, even have a seat cushion in my car. Even in FL swamp *** conditions, my butt is the last thing that gives out on hard rides (giggity).

Agreed. I have done 300 mi in one day and thought the stock seat was fine. My only complaint was the relative lack of wind protection even with the larger touring windscreen.

Just an FYI. Just ran mine out of gas. Pushed it a block to fill up and topped off at 3.7 gallons and 165 miles (in town miles). Just glad it was only a block!

Don't know about others here but I find 150 miles or so between fill ups is just about right for any bike or trip and usually coincides with a very welcome five minute stop and stretch of legs? Even on my Mutley which was MEGA comfy still stopped at 150

Only problem with that is there are stretches of highway in this part of my country where there are more than 150 miles between fuel stops which required proper planning...

I did a 137 mile ride yesterday and used 2.2US gallons that equates to a little over 62 mpg!

I've got more than 8000 km on it. Been switching between sport and touring modus. The average I got is 1 liter per 20 km.
