Long live Hyperstrada

Don't want to be rude, but your constant whining about the bike is pretty tiresome. It's a great lightweight tourer, and there's still nothing like it on the market.

I've got 20k miles on it, and ridden some pretty tough roads fully loaded, rain and shine, and it's never let me down or shaken my confidence in its abilities.

A shame they're dropping it. I'll be keeping mine for quite some time.

Waaah. Your whining about my whining is equally tiresome. Stop whining you whiner! :)

In all honestly, after my experiences with their warranty claims division I'll never buy another Ducati anyway so I am not sure my opinion matters.

I've had both good and bad experiences with Ducati warranty. Shock sprung a minor leak - bam, replaced the shock with a brand new one in a week!

Starter motor went bad for the second time - service manager raised his voice at me and Ducati HQ denied warranty claim.

So I completely understand not buying another one. As tempting as the mini multi is, I think BMW will have my money next.

I'll be keeping my Hyper. I test rode both the Hyper and the Multi when I was shopping for fun "touring" bike. The Multi is just too big. My wife and I are short, we have a much easier time getting on and off the narrower and lighter Hyper.
I thought I read that the 950MS is only one pound lighter than the 1200. It also has a regular swingarm. If it's the same size, chassis wise and seat height, I can't see the use in getting the 950.

Dealer quoted seat is lower than that of the multi.
Yes, 790mm as standard compared to the 1200 at 825mm as standard. Lower and higher seat heights available for both bikes.

So lower seat height than my Hyperstrada low version

all I want is a slightly bigger tank (18-20 litres) and a headlight that actually lights up the road
adjustable front suspension would be great too but not as important to me.
definitely won't be buying the MS950

Won't be trading mine in for the new Multi.
Think the hyper is a cracking bike, only thing I'd like to change is the suspension.
Didn't really notice how bad it was until I get on it after riding my new Thruxton.
But doubt I'll be spending large amounts of cash on changing the suspension, I can live with it, until an affordable solution is available.

don't know what you understand under affordable solution. but, e.g. an Andreani set for 500 USD works ten times better than the original one, for street and track use.
I have never had a bike with such a bad front suspension like my hyper had, and now with Andreani i never had a bike with better front suspension than the Andreani ones.

enter 172377856933 in ebay, link to auction unfortunatly only works some minutes.

go to ebay and enter in search "andreani hyperstrada". € 472,87 . ships for € 20 from italy to austria, will not be much more to uk, i suppose.
you know, within EU, and UK is still EU yet, no additional taxes .., just shipping costs

That's still not £400. £430.00 + oil, oils seals and fitting still to go on top of that price.
Not cheap, by any stretch of the imagination.

guy, it's up to you to live with that fork or invest some money to have a much better one.
but, look on your list of modifications of your HS, the fork would have been a much more reasonable one than other listed ones, imho.

Styling .

There is no comparison. Strada/Motard set up just looks the nuts !

Multistrada just looks bulky and heavy at the front, and those nostrils ! uuurghhhh

That's just my opinion.

Being as you must like to get a bit 'hooligan' from time to time, knowing you went for the SP, I'm curious as to which BMW you think might satisfy you down the line...

Have my eyes on the S1000XR. I rode one. It didn't have quite the same hooligan factor as the hyper but it was very nice.

I test rode one recently. I told the sales dude that I rated the 1000XR 7 out of 10 for enjoyment compared to my Hyper at 9 out of 10. He didn't seem to like that.

I like your style. I would have definitely had a go on one if it was out the last time I went to the BMW dealer. After going there to ride the GS1200, and telling the salesman it wasn't doing much for me, he got me out on the S1000RR and K1300S. Loved 'em both.

The thought of that I4 lump and all the tech they put on their bikes these days in a touring chassis has me very interested. I shall ride one when the weather picks up again!!

LOL, disgruntled salesman always make me chuckle inside.

For me, the S1000XR was a disappointment. Had one for a week on review and rode it all over the North Island. I couldn't believe how much it vibrated compared to any testastretta engine from Ducati. Short gearing made it seem hyperactive and raw at times when all I wanted was something more refined and effective yet just as fast. The Multi 12 is a way better bike if seeking a do anything motorcycle with a bit more power than a 939. You get a better gearbox, better suspension, better fairing, better seat, and I could go on.
