Hi all,
I recently bought a 2013 Hyperstrada and have learnt a lot through reading this forum so thought I'd give back what I can in case it helps others in the future;
- My bike was due the desmo service when I got it. I'm happy doing the work myself so just needed a way to turn the dash indicator off. In my case*, I was able to read all codes, delete codes, and also reset the desmo service light without issue.
*it's reported in some places that others have not been able to do reset service lights. Whether this is because the functionality has been added since they tried I don't know.
- My bike also had an engine light on, and felt like it was in a semi-limp mode. It rode fairly normally up to about 5000rpm, at which point there was just no power. It would throw a consistent lambda code even after clearing codes, so I installed eliminator plugs (as they were original so likely to fail at some point anyway) but the code persisted. At this point I started thinking about the weird electrical issues I was reading from people with throttle or dash issues. I rang my dealer and they confirmed my bike had been in for all recalls, including the CAN protection filter. I then did the Eldor coil swap for peace of mind (I sold the original coils for more than I paid!). Then I thought about the throttle issues so got the code from the throttle connector and rang the dealer again. It took quite a bit of explaining/convincing for them to look hard enough to find the service bulletin or whatever they called it, but they then confirmed I had an original throttle that required replacing. They replaced it FOC, and it's been great ever since!
