Speedometer reading off.

Doubt that it will affect resale value at all.
Even if it was out buy 10% every 10k would only put 1K on total,
if i was buying a bike and one had 10k and another 11k then the price would be the same and the only factor would be the cleanest for me, so if the 11k bike was the best all round condition then thats what i would buy.

I deal with retail customers every day. Believe me side by side 2 bikes one with 10000km and one with 11000km. It's gonna be an easier sell for the lower k's.

I haven't confirmed with my GPS yet, but I'd bet that while the speedo is off, the odo is spot on.

Quoting myself from another thread:

Well, it isn't. The manual even states that the ECU takes the computed value and adds 5%. And I think it's off closer to 7% but have my yet confirmed.

I read an article a couple of years ago that claimed that European regs dictate that a speedometer can never real lower than actual, for any 'reasonable' wheel and tire combo that an owner might put on. So they look for the dumbest over-profile tire someone could fit and figure the error from that case.

Before the Hyperstrada I rode a monster Evo.
Riding together with my wife (she has a Suzuki Gladius) the monster had a major difference in odometer reading. Monster doing much more then the Suzuki.
With the Hyper it is almost spot on with the Suzuki.
Maybe the Suzuki and Hyper are wrong but I doubt that.

Regards.

I just contacted the manufacture of the SpeedoDRD to see if they have one that works for the Hyperstrada and they said:
"Just spoke to our rep and he said they do not have a unit that will work with that bike very yet but are working on one. Once they are available we will have them listed."

After fitting a Zumo 390 I noticed the same this so I spoke to my dealer, Ducati Glasgow. I was assured the speedo is intentionally 8% fast and this is a factory setting. The mileage is accurate so there is no issue with resale etc.
My fuel readout is very optimistic. I am getting 45-55 mpg (UK) but the dash reads 55-65 which is very annoying.
Still love the bike though.

Not actually....

Back when the US speed limit was 55 mph, NHTSA mandated speedos that only went up to 85 mph. They also required 1% accuracy; I had a couple of SR500s with accurate speedos. Unfortunately they threw that baby out with the 55 mph bathwater. And Harleys are accurate, their speedos are even labeled "Certified." Probably because of police use.

SpeedoDRD does not have anything that fits the 821s yet. I suspect that the ABS and DTC make it harder, as they don't offer it for the Multi, etc. with those features. I asked too, and the "up to 2013" thing refers to the air cooled Hypers. I put one on my wife's SV650 though, and it works great. My old R6 is next.

So the reason for the 6-8% high reading on most sport bikes is to try and keep us from excessive speed?

I think it's more that they want you to think you are going supersonic when you are just barely breaking the speed limit. You must have heard about the 10% tach error on early R6's...oooh I'm spinning 16k.

That said, a post-2008 R6 is amazing above an indicated 12k. On a nice smooth road.
