Starter motor discovery - Taigene vs Denso

I think my 2013 821 'Strada starter motor is going the same way. I can't find any suppliers for the Denso version over here in the UK, but ebay is full of versions called ArrowHead which I'm assuming are very much cheaper than anything Ducati supplies. Has anyone here had experience of the ArrowHead?
Thanks,
Nick

I ordered mine from Gotham Cycles, 27040103A Ducati Starter Motor: 848 1098 1198 1098s 1198s 1198sp 1098r 1198r Streetfighter Multistrada 1200 1200s Diavel Carbon Cromo AMG Strada Hypermotard SUPERBIKE 848 1098 1098S 1098R 1098R BAYLISS 1198 1198S 27040101A HYPERMOTARD HM1100 HM1100S 27040.

Thanks for your reply, Reb. Apart from the matter of postage from Florida to the UK, do you know what brand the Gotham ones are? Looks like they are all used, so could be the Taigene ones with a very short prospect of life? The ArrowHead ones on ebak/uk are priced the same as the Gotham ones, and are new.

They are supposed to be original OEM Denso pull offs from other Ducati's. I went with Gotham as that is where the OP bought his from so seemed to be a logical choice as he took his apart and inspected it. I plan on doing the same with mine when I receive it and just got the tracking information from Gotham today after a barrage of emails. They stated they've been busy with orders and just didn't respond until today.

Well, I think I got lucky today, as I found the correct code Denso starter on ebay here. The seller says it is in very good condition and taken off a 2017 Monster. Price was the same in £ as the Gotham ones in $ with a sensible carriage fee, so half the price of a new one from Ducati. I'm more confident buying a used Denso than a cheap new one of unknown quality. Should be fun fitting it!

I had my starter off my bike in 15 minutes. No biggie. Watch out for the hidden screw that holds the drain hoses. It has a screw in the head of it then an allen head to remove the rest of the screw that holds the engine case. I nearly got sideways as I had the case in a bind until I realized there was still a screw on the case.

Pro tip. Use a small wire brush to get the gasket material off. Comes off much easier than with a razor blade.

My Hypermotard is taking too many cranks to start. Also starting is very clunky as is motor is not engaging smooth. Its loud khaaaat khaaat.
