Race Tech Suspension
Ok, so I went out for a ride today after installing the race tech suspension. So... it TRANSFORMED the bike. On the pavement you no longer feel every pavement imperfection and for the first time actually feel the shock working. High speed turns felt the same. The only bad thing is a noticeable nose dive under sudden hard braking.
Off road though, the difference is incredible! I did a little bit of single tracking today, went over rocks, roots, etc and it feels like a completely different bike. You NEED to install a good skid plate though as now with the better suspension, I have a lot more confidence to go faster over bigger obstacles and more than once I heard the plate getting hit by rocks.
I was considering getting an 1190R, but not now. For $1,000 I think it was WELL worth it!

The Race Tech Suspension sounds great . I rode about 40 miles of dirt and two rut roads in the NC mountains yesterday . I was very pleased with the way the HS handled . My buddy , on a DRZ 400 , said it looked very smooth ,much better than his bike . I really need some more aggressive tires . Are there any tires available other than the TKC 80 that I'm missing ?On top of the dirt roads we also forged 6 creek crossing from 15ft to 30ft across and up to 2ft deep . So far I'm very pleased with the HS , but all the problems I read about on here do concern me a bit !
I am planning on putting the Karoo3 on my bike for a portion of the UTBDR this Fall. Also, they are supposedly about to release a K60 in a 170 size. I have the D616 (rear) and MT60R (front) on my bike now, which is far less aggressive but works ok if you stay way from mud and take it easy on the throttle. Good Luck!

i accidentally took mine through some bike trails & managed to survive... I use to race motocross, so that helped a lot, but it was constantly spinning & sliding around... fun for me, but im glad this thing is under warranty, bc i feel like i am going to destroy it some days
I took my hs down some fire roads the other day with my friend and his nc700x. Both bikes did great. It was nothing complicated. But too much fun to resist. The only problem I had was rocks hitting the rad. I've been slacking and have not got the protectors yet. Can't wait to do more off road

You guessed right folks that's a Ducati Hyperstrada!!
Spent most of the day Saturday riding with PSimon and had a great time creating some dirty Ducs!
We did about 30 miles on trail 717 west of Woodland Park, Colorado, at elevations near 9K feet. These trails are pseudo single tracks that the quad ATVs can play on so nothing technical or tight but lots of whoops and some decent hill climbs.
The ground was mostly decomposed granite, which you see typically in this part of the country, with a few mud holes, creek crossings and roots thrown in for good measure, but no big rocks"”which was a good thing.
The bike performed flawlessly, all things considered, the front suspension could be better, but considering it's not really designed for whoop-de-dos, it was adequate just to slow down a bit.
Fueling was spot on, never a hiccup or sputter.
The bikes handle very easily in that type terrain and were very forgiving. Started in Touring mode then quickly switched to Urban with the traction off for more controlled wheel spin. I have TCK80s all around, which I'm very impressed with both on and off pavement, and they look particularly knarly in a 180 wide on the back of the Strada. According to PSimon, they are particularly foreboding with roost!

Damn! I forgot I'd joined this forum!
I was looking at the Hyperstrada but bought the Hypermotard SP as I wanted that longer suspension for adventure riding.
Ive been doing a bit of work converting the bike and plan on a set of spoked 'skinny' wheels in 17/19" sizes so I have a lot of tyre choices.
Bike has now done about 3500km and around 700 of that has been on gravel roads.

+1, glad you like it. Did RT revalve the rear shock, or just change the spring? They told me that it was not rebuildable, but they might have been thinking of the standard HS shock.
I can't remember. I might have them change the fork springs and revalve cuz I am bottoming out the front too often on the dirt.

That's what they did to my forks...but what did they do to the rear shock?

They bottom because the stock spring rate is a pathetic 0.63 kg/mm, and they put a ton of preload on it to compensate. RT changed mine to 0.85, with minimal preload, and they are just right.

What am I missing guys. Who takes a 14k Ducati off road when a 2K DR650 would kick its *** and if you do dump it no big deal. I love my hyper but a simple fire road every once in a while is all I ever plan to do. I can't imagine having 19 inch wheels made for it and trying to create something that it was NOT intended to do. I know you all want to make it your own and make something unique, but this is not the bike for that. Too much plastic and poor suspension for off road... I know this will piss some of you off and for that I apologize but I really do not get this conversation!
I'm thinking I'll get the Borani wheels if they will make them with rims to my preference. Otherwise the guy in Denver.
