Taking your Hyperstrada Off Road

What am I missing guys. Who takes a 14k Ducati off road when a 2K DR650 would kick its *** and if you do dump it no big deal. I love my hyper but a simple fire road every once in a while is all I ever plan to do. I can't imagine having 19 inch wheels made for it and trying to create something that it was NOT intended to do. I know you all want to make it your own and make something unique, but this is not the bike for that. Too much plastic and poor suspension for off road... I know this will piss some of you off and for that I apologize but I really do not get this conversation!

Fair comment: I have a KTM 300EXC and that will kick my Ducati's arse every time. However, I can't take my Mrs on it. The Ducati is gravel roads only, not 'off road' and works pretty good.
I have the Hypermotard SP and with its extra long suspension compared to the Hyperstrada; it is fine.

Agreed, gravel roads and what we call fire service roads it works great, and is a lot of fun. Anything requiring larger wheels and knobby tires makes no sense to me.

I'd have to agree, its like the people who take their GS1200s off road, they are far too heavy and expensive just get a DRZ or a proper enduro bike.

Y'all don't know what you're missing ! Hit a gravel/dirt road and try it out , the dirt will wash off. My buddy said the new TKC80's I put on were throwing a rooster tail 3ft high and 30ft behind me . You can't help but smile . ;)

I agree with Frank! Ask Pat I covered him with mud and he was 20 yards behind me!

Hello, I am Hasan from Malaysia. This is a few photos recently took from an event I joined at my local national park forest Mat Daling near Ulu Tembeling. along with a lot of GS. Very hard core stuff. Gravel, sand, clay, river crossing, rain at night, all types of terrain along the way. This trail meant for 4x4 and enduro bikes. Luckily I made it. It's about 300KM off-road and 300KM tarmac in 2 days. I have a lot of fun.

My bike was equipped with Evotech Performance Radiator, engine guard and frame slider, ROX riser, rear tire Mitas MC60, front tire is stock.

I fell a few times. Not much damage, only the rear brake lever was slightly bent.

That is hard core right there.. Wouldn't ever dream about doing that to my Strada.. Mostly because I'd hate to clean it afterwords.

Ultimate respect.
Would love to have a go at that. Whether I would be bold enough to get my HS that dirty, hmmmm, jury out on that one at the moment :)

Please let us know if there's any ill effects of running that deep in the mud/water/etc.. Cause you might disprove the HM/HS don't like water theories flying rampant on all the forums causing electrical meltdowns.

Gladly no electronic or engine problem at all. I use "Touring" mode ABS and DTC setting with "Urban" power.
