Tank bags?

I have a broken set that you can have, or at least I think I do. Some moron installed a givi top case on my bike and spaced going back and applying loctite on the givi support bolts after fitting everything and well, don't do that.

I think they could probably be repaired to handle a tail bag. I'll dig them out this weekend and snap a pic of the damage if your interested.

Heck yeah that'd be awesome.

RSL, I have a bag on my seat right now, but due to the short length it prevents rearward movement in the saddle. Explains why the rear rack is positioned so far back.

That looks like the Nelson Rigg tail pack you had. Is it the "sport" version? CL1060S?

Tailbag mount

A little late on this thread....I had mounted the rack and supporting rails for my old Givi V46 but found i did not need the large volume very often. So here's what i did earlier this summer to mount an old Marsee tail bag I've used on 3 other bikes.

There's a guy in our small town who is an aluminum fabricator who had the perfect sized 9" X 12" scrap he sold me for $5. I made a template for the mounting bolts on the grab rails from from 1/4" scrap plywood. I also figured out where the slots needed to be for the webbing of the tailbag. I marked the aluminum with a fine sharpie and drilled 7/16" holes for the grab bar mounting screws. For the slots I drilled 2 holes then used a metal blade in my jigsaw. I then used a fine file and a small diamond stone to round over all the edges. I then used some flat black Rustoleum to make it black!

The only thing I would differently is to make the forward slots for the webbing a little closer to the outside edges and 1/2" instead of 7/16".

The zipper on my DP tank bag has dissolved and is beyond repair so am now looking for a replacement bag of some type. As life would have it, the tank bag on my R1200RT(an OEM BMW piece)is also having zipper issues and is close to total failure. What I would really like to find is something that could be used on both bikes and is of the quick release type but of course there are different styles of gas caps. The HS being the twist off variety and the RT of the pop up style. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a filler cap conversion for the HS of the pop up variety?

TIA
Colin

I have a cortech low profile which works OK - durable, reasonable amount of storage, but hard to mount on the hyper without it moving around some. It's good enough.

I'd give this a look if I was still looking: https://moskomoto.com/collections/motorcycle-luggage/products/nomad-tank-bag

and they are coming out with a waterproof bag. The billowy standard type of shower cap covers works OK, but are distracting, and I'm sure will blow away one day.

Cool bag, they've really thought it out. I like the idea of compartments and everything in its place but it would take me a while to figure out where I'd hidden everything! I could make it work on the HS, not so sure about the RT.

Ha ha - I think it's totally clever, but yeah - some stuff oould be lost forever. I don't even use the pockets on my jackets. But different minds work in different ways nad for someone its perfect. I like the included hydration pack too. Mosko is smart people.
