The Suspension Thread!!! BOOING

Can you share some images of the adjusters on the top of the fork with us David?

This thread might be too long to be useful anymore. I'm just getting to know my hyper and will be looking to set it up just a little. There's a lot of info in here, but no real way to find anything because it's just a single topic. Can this become a whole category?

Of they admins would give me the ability to clean it up I would. I ment to have a very organized first post but I can't edit it anymore to clean it up....

Hey guys, i picked up my new bike yesterday and i was hoping to get some help identifying what forks are on this thing? They look like the Marzocchi's from the SP but the cartridges are different to the ones on the SP. Any one have any ideas?

Thanks!

There is an Andreani sticker at the bottom for your forks, so maybe there has been fitted an Andreani cartridge kit.

They seem to at least be the marzocchi legs and sliders off the SP. If thats the case are the Andreani internals better then the standard SP internals?
Like why would they upgrade the forks then downgrade the internals?

Either way i will be taking it to a suspension place and getting it set up properly.

$550 for one Mupo right fork cartridge, set-up for my weight and riding style.

$463 for two Andreani cartridges, one compression dampening and one rebound dampening.

Decisions, decisions.

I bought the Andreani from a seller in Italy and payed about € 500 (within Europe)

I suppose, buying directly in Italy would save you a lot of money, despite exchangerate, shipping costs and taxes.

for me the Andreani works fine, it is really worth each Euro(Dollar).

in "touringmode" its really on the hard side and could work better, but the faster and harder you go the better it works.
it also works well when i am driving with my wife on pillionseat in "touringmode", without changing setting of preload, rebound or compression.
i have ordered the cartridges with springs for 80 kg riderweigth and preload is on the softest position.
rebound i have 1 turn (from 5) in from softest and compression is nearly on softest.
so, there is still a lot of space for track use left.

Just found the 105/D08 cartridges on eBay for $463 with shipping included from Italy. The exchange rate is pretty good now days.

The seller says the springs will be adjusted to my riding weight.

I have inquired about the 105/D08 which is for the standard height HS. BTW: the 105/D12 is for the low seat version.

Just been advised by well respected track suspension guy that the single very good Mupo is the best route for me. So, a plan is at hand.

A Mupo SP Right Fork Replacement Cartridge:

DUCATI HYPERSTRADA 821 (13 - 15)
Item code: C03DUC047

I've been looking at suspension options for a while now and had almost entirely decided on the Andreani (well, they seem to be almost the only cart option).

Why'd he suggest MUPO? He didn't have any concerns about the single fork hydraulic setup? This is the first instance I've seen of a 'high-end' fork cartridge having the meat in just one fork. But I also know next to nothing about it! Just here to learn.

Mupo has a double cartridge option too, as seen above in a post.

Yeah I did see that but it has a note next to the Hyperstrada referencing the single cartridge P/N, it seemed. Just curious if you got any info about what you might lose in a single cartridge setup, which the stock forks are certainly designed for.

in original fork only the right leg really has "innards" and seems to handle compression and rebound.
left leg simply has a spring and oil because of the air buffer.

i think mupo knows what they do when only changing right leg.

andreani consists of 2, where right one has compression and left one has rebound damping. but left leg was a mess to disassemble.
