Not sure why ducati stopped making them

I was never quite sure what gap they filled. A friend of mine had one, and it was less aggressive than the 848 but still more bent forward than a 'tard, nice engine but no wind protection, and like the regular 848, steered like a truck. Traction control but no ABS. Better looking than my Strada for sure, way better brakes, and nicely narrow, but the Strada just has more of what I want in a streetbike. I'm definitely nabbing a front master off of one if I see one used for a good price. :p

A Panigale-based SF would be kickass, but I'm not sure they're interested in going down that road again.

It is a great looking bike and supposed to be in the naked bike category and compete directly with the likes of Ape Tuono, MV Brutale.

That being said, you are absolutely right about the riding position. It is put a lot of pressure on the wrist more so than the tuono.

I test road the old 1098 version a few years ago now. At that time it was my favorite of the entire Ducati line up.

I'd expect the wind pressure to reduce the weight on the wrists at highway speeds. In fact higher bars would make you hang on more tightly. He is not planning any long distance tours on it, either.

My friend did mention that it steered more slowly, but I'm sure that raising the rear and lowering the front a bit will help that. That's probably why they put a 185/60 on the back instead of a 55. He's a big husky kid, and goes very well on it! We put a Shorai in the tail yesterday, losing 6 pounds way back there will also help turn-in.

We'll get a proper test ride in on Sunday. Might try Palomar.

My Hyper has received a few mods in the last few weeks. I added new decals, fog lights, and "pogies".

Decals are self explanatory, Cagiva era, they were from MVS performance.

The fog lights were a huge pain in the ***, but then again I kinda took the hard route. I bought a fog light switch off a multistrada, only to find out that all it did was communicate over canbus to the ECU. I was hoping for an on/off. So I had to buy pcb mount switches online, and cut open the housing to make it work as I wanted. After that, the harness was made using 18ga wire, waterproof amp-style connectors, an automotive relay, and an inline fuse. All wrapped in harness tape.

The "pogies" idea came from the fools who ride fat-bikes in the winter. These are really popular in the mountain bike scene for winter riding. They were $25 on amazon, so I figured why not! I melted a small hole on each one for the mirrors, bar end, and handguard mount. I haven't tested them yet, but I think the results will be great!

Don't mean to burst your bubble, but those have been made for motorcycles for quite a while.

I like the National Cash Register decals on the front fender. :D

Just kidding, looks great.

PS He could not touch the ground on the Hyper SP...

Yeah that is the struggle with alot of potential buyers.. even on the strada and base model. I am also vertically challenged and I can just manage it. I almost had a mishap with a passenger (our second date) and I almost dropped it leaving central park NYC where the curb is sloped. i think we all know the situation, a loss of balance and a constant pushing with your foot to get balance again. She says "are you ok?" "yea im good, just lost my balance for a second" :D

what has other riders done to deal with the seat height?

I guess I'm just used to bikes with tall seat heights. My dirt bike seat height is 38" and I'm 5'10" with 32" inseam so the strada feels pretty damn good to me

I am 5'7" with 30" inseam. Chop two inches off and you would have a problem navigating parking spots :D I save myself the trouble and just pull straight in and swing the bike around on the kickstand when I leave.

I've got a 30" inseam and have no problems with the strada. If I have my big boy boots on (forma adventures), I can flat foot - though I don't really see the purpose.

I rode my Strada with my riding buddy on his Streetfighter to breakfast at the Lookout. For the first time, he set a pace that I could not match, even erased the last of his chicken strips. When we got to the parking lot, there were a pair of EBR 1190s there. They had Wisconsin manufacturer's plates, number 1.

Now, I had met the new owner of EBR a couple of months ago when we accompanied some friends who were buying a Motot Guzzi Falcone from him. Also, the previous weekend we had met him at the Lookout, and I had turned down a test ride on the naked 1190. This time I asked if the offer was still open, and my buddy hopped on the superbike with me on the naked. This sort of thing is best when shared.

185 hp and >100 lb-ft. certainly gets your attention! The midrange power was just astounding. I am extremely glad that we were not seen by any LEOs. I came back with lust in my heart, but I realize that this bike would get me into big trouble some day.

Still, we are talking about supporting the only American sportbike manufacturer. Meanwhile, my Ducati dealer doubled their sales last year over the previous. There needs to be room for Eric Buell Racing.

Sounds like a lot of fun.... after a few days of single digits here, it's snowing again. I worry about aging gas and encrusted injectors and the like and I haven't been on two wheels for a few months... On the EBRs, I agree it would be great to have a strong sport bike brand produced here. I'm curious about the exhaust setup they used and how they sounded to you. The ones I have seen/heard had a rather uninspiring sound.

I need to email Bill to get a copy of the pic he took of us.

The naked's exhaust was just the two pipes coming out from under the swingarm, with no external muffler. It sounded glorious!

This was a magazine test bike, in pre-production black with red wheels. He offered to sell it to me, at a very low price. But like I posted, this bike would put me in jail and/or the hospital eventually. Also, hanging on at anywhere near it's top speed would be impossible. Plus I'm done owning orphans, except for the Velos of course.

A Panigale 1290 might make more top end power, but I doubt there is another street legal sportbike with the midrange and top end that the EBR has.

My buddy and I had a fast ride home, and by the time we were done we both agreed that we would stick with what we have.

Good to hear that the EBR was insane as it seems. I hope third time is a charm and that we get a middle weight sport bike out of them. I'd love to have one as a track bike!

Mine got some rear turn signals from a Euro Panigale.

They are OEM parts, LED, and fairly cheap too (got them as take-offs).

What did you do to your stock turn signal? Mine are sagging, yours look shortened?

Well I took the plunge and ordered my 939 HysteriaCharger today. It'll come with the race seat of the HM SP already installed - one of the advantages of the bike being order-only in New Zealand (I guess) is that you can select which seat you require right at assembly time in the factory. The disadvantage is waiting for that slow boat shipping the bike to come from Italy. It'll be unloaded first in Sydney, then freighted to Wellington, which will take a further two weeks. So it'll probably be late July by the time I swing a leg over it. I'll then give it its first upgrade, which has to be the new rad, oil cooler, and engine guard set from Evotech. Too many loose stones on the cheap coarse-chip sealed roads down this way...
