What'd you do to your Hyperstrada today?

For me the plate holder wasn't about having a "chopped" tail look. I wanted a rear fender that may actually stop the water and whatnot from going onto my back. The factory fender will not. It doesn't even go to the end of the tire. The new fender should help out with this. I also plan on getting a rear shock sock to help keep any of the overspray off of it.

I bought mine directly from them. I didn't have much of a problem with talking to them, and I don't know any Italian. I guess I can just deal with broken English okay enough.

bazwp, what is it you would like to know? I may be able to help.

Similar desire from me - just want to cut down spray from rear wheel.

I want there fender bracket and the carbon fender - I just wanted a price and a paypal invoice to purchase. Do you have a contact email other than there standard information request address - as I have not got a intelligible answer so I am not sure how I should proceed.

Any advice would be appreciated

Cheers

I bugged my dealer for the third time about different mods, but most important, when they'll have my bike ready from winter storage. Also waiting for eta on front fork cartridges.

I rode Ortega highway this morning. I'm still not completly comfortable in the turns. After the ride I made a few adjustments:
1) Removed touring screen in favor of the stock Strada screen. The touring screen seems too close to my helmet.
2) Added preload to the rear spring and increased rear shock damping. I don't know if this will help but I'm happy to twist the knob a bit and see what happens.
3) Removed the handlebar spacers. I put the fasteners in upside down as recommended by another user.
4) Removed the center stand. I couldn't stop thinking about it dragging in the turns.

I've got a set of Givi Trekker panniers that should arrive this week.

I'm excited to get back out next weekend and see how it feels.

Hi Nate, it was good to see you at the Lookout. What a glorious day! Until you get to the edges of the rear tire you won't get the centerstand down. I only do when two-up, and it's barely noticeable.

Did you get the owner's manual with your demo bike? The rear rebound is spec'd at 1-1/2 turns out, and out is softer. Did you go to one turn out?

Looking forward to seeing those bags, might consider getting some myself. The stockers are a mile wide and not waterproof or lockable. Are the mounts different? I noticed that all the stock mounting bits were removed from your bike right down to the spools on the rack, they must have sold the kit to another customer. At least you got the rack!

See you next Sunday!

I have the stock Strada pannier mounts. I just took them off because I don't have the bags. The Bellevue Ducati kit uses the stock mounts and adds an adapter plate. I'll post pics as soon as they arrive.

I dialed the rear damping in 3/4 of a turn, so half way to full stiff from where I found it.

Nate

Zippy, do you mean not 'secure'? You can lock the zippers.

Two seconds with a pair of side cutters will take care of any luggage-style zipper locks - just ask the baggage thieves at your local airport!

Even the 'cheap and cheerful' Hepco and Becker hard bags that came on my wife's MuZ Skorpion Traveller have proper locks.

Nate, did you order the 33L or the bigger ones? At 16" tall, the 33s seem small enough to not interfere with a passenger. Hopefully the brackets keep them close to the sides; that would address my main concern with the OEM bags. And the price is not much more than the OEM set if you buy them outright.

Once I sell one of the other 'baggers' in my garage I might spring for some. Looking forward to seeing yours.

I bought the 33 liter bags. Hoping they arrive today! Good seeing you at the lookout last Sunday! Nate

I received the Give Trekker panniers and the Bellevue Ducati mounts today. I uploaded pictures of the right side bag installation to the pictures\gear gallery. I may have the mounts anodized black. Otherwise the kit looks pretty nice.
The bags are about the same width as the handle bar.
Nate

Ward post some pics when you get those on. I'm very curious how that would look and how much better you could see.

Sure, but they're soft bags anyway. I could get into them with a pocket knife. Asking for a more robust locking mechanism is like padlocking a soft top convertible.

The bags are thin plastic under the fabric. Attacking them with a knife would pretty much ruin whatever you are after. But your analogy is true - that why we got a retractable hardtop on our Miata. Would take an axe to get into it.

Nate, thanks for the pics. Those bags do look tall. The mounts are beautiful. And if they are no wider than the handlebars then they meet my requirements - the stockers are 2-1/2" wider and only hold 25 L each. Exactly how wide are they? Or I'll bring a tape measure next Sunday...and perhaps the wifey can try the back of the seat to see if they interfere.

Hi Tom, I'll put the left side bag on this evening and get a total width measurement. You are welcome to take it for a spin with your wife on Sunday if you want. See you at the lookout!
Nate

I didn't mount up the left side bag yet, but I measure 16.5 inches from the widest point to the center of the bike. Total width with both panniers should be 33 inches. I measure the mirrors at 35.5 inches.
