What'd you do to your Hyperstrada today?

Installed an Arrow carbon can and mid-pipe today. Installation was a snap, the can quality is uber-high and it sounds yummy. I weighed the parts and saved about 3.5 pounds counting all mounting hardware. The flapper valve cable was also disconnected without any ECU codes. I'm starting with the db Killer installed which seems slightly louder than the factory can. The fit, appearance and sound are totally satisfying! Cheers. :D

Does it have a catalytic in it?

nothing yet... but the delivery guy dropped off these 3 evotech goodies at my doorsteps this morning:

- fender eliminator
- engine guard
- radiator guard

will be slapping them onto the bike tomorrow after studying the installation manual

meantime, my hands are itching to pop that bubble wrap the package came with

Cool! How 'bout some pics after the installation?! :)

installed the evotech products this morning. impressed with the quality, they're good stuff. was an easy job, all drop-in. everything needed was in the kit, even the male connectors for the license plate light and 2 zip-ties. i had to cut the wire for the license plate light by more than half as there is not much room for the harness to be bunched up that little space of the tail tidy.

really happy with it and is highly recommended. sorry for the cellphone-quality photos

now to save some more moolahs for the exhaust

Fitted my Ultimate Addons iPhone 5 kit, its a fairly simple kit containing the waterproof case and charging cable, its mounted to one of the handlebar mounts on an adjustable ball mount with the wires hidden around the bodywork.

Here is what it mounts to

The connector is cable tied to the rest of the loom by the fork, here it is with the cap removed ready for the lightning adapter cable.

cable and fuse run down and are hidden by the black panel before plugging into the 12v socket.

I'm not the most confident at splicing into the loom on my brand new bike so this is a better solution for me and is easily removed for the next bike too.

As a photographer I needed something a little more secure than the zippered panniers to keep my equipment in. Checked Ducati's website and found the only top case they offer for the Hyperstrada so far is also zippered. On top of that, they want $899.99 for the stupid thing! I then talked to the guys at Moto Forza (my local dealer) to see if it would be possible to order the MTS's top case for my bike and whether it would fit. Kris, their lead sales guy, assured me the Givi plate for the case should match up with mount points on the HS normally used to attach the Ducati Performance luggage rack. Well, my case arrived today, and the thing fits like a glove! The only thing that didn't mesh was the lower support bars, nothing that some minor machining can't get around though. The plate still has four points of contact out of the six it will have once the bars are installed. All that's left is to order the lock and key set from Givi. Normally the lock for the case uses the MTS's ignition key and the lock itself is included with the sale of the bike. Grand total for everything... $559.99 before tax!!! Now I'll have a waterproof, color-matched, and most importantly... LOCKABLE, Ducati top case for my Hyper! All for $300 less than the case they offer specifically for the bike... explain that one??? Major props to the guys at Forza, they're the best! If you're in the San Diego area be sure to hit them up. Very happy camper right now.

that to me, is an elegant topcase solution. aren't you going to install the lower support bars? with the weight of that topcase and its contents, you'd want to have that reinforcement. just my opinion

Definitely going to put the supporting bars on there. As it is, I wouldn't trust the plate to support the weight of a pinion rider pressing back on the case. This was just a temporary partial setup to get the case home from the dealer. The bars are, however, going to take some minor tweaking to conform to the Hyper's lower mounting points. I'll post pics of the completed project as soon as I find the time to get it finished.

image.jpgNew parts !

Arrow X-cone slip on
Ducati Carbon wind screen
Reverse retro mirrors
R&G bar end pucks

Arrow can sounds much better than stock can, no baffle
Ducati wind screen does work very well.I'm 5'9' and do 85 on the highway with no buffering. Have tried Laminar Lip on stock screen,(sucked) Very noisy. Sent it back, got my money back.
Reverse retros are eBay cheapies, but work much better than stock

You're talking about that little Ducati "windscreen" that goes for a couple of hundred bucks? I'm tempted to try that too. Or try making my own. It's so little but so expensive. It doesn't make it so you've got to hang on to the bars for dear life at 80mph? I'm 6' and have to hang on with the stock windscreen.

Yes, I know they are pricey, but it really does work well for me and looks good too.

I dig it.
If I had the coin I'd buy every carbon fiber panel made for the Hyperstrada.

My KTM Duke had this tiny little thing over the headlight that directed air in such a way that it was smooth and quiet. I replaced it with the optional KTM touring screen and regretted it. It was smaller than the stock one on the HS. And it made the ride noisy. It was sorta useless. But I left it on the bike anyway, even when I traded it away. Maybe I'll get the little carbon one.

Me too. I'm a sucker for cool, pricey parts...
Actually, it looks good for short/local runs and the factory screen can be back on in a minute or two if needed. ;) OK, I'm sold!

The noise is what killed the stock screen for me. Now I get both clean air and can hear my bike.

The stock screen puts noisy air right under my helmet. If I shrug my shoulders to seal off the underside of my helmet it quiets down. If I stand on the pegs over the screen it quiets down.

I actually experimented with changing the stock screen angle via a few longer screws and rubber washers. It only moved the noisy blast of air further up my helmet. I tried lowering the edge of the screen by raising the front up but it looked silly.

I saw this one day. Um, not just no. Hell no.
Link to something I think I could make better with tin snips and sheet metal
