Are they here yet?

Trust us.......

I asked my dealer in Ossing, NY the same question. He said they would NOT demo my bike and it would have 10 miles on it when I pick it up.

It will NOT be ridden by a 'customer', it will have no more than 9.999999999 miles on it and the back tire 'may' have some areas of melted rubber on it!

i ask this because i can get my deposit back if i take for a spin and hate it. So, say the dealer is taking lots of deposits and mines the first out of the crate when one of the first depositors walks in...I'm thinking the first bike running is the show pony.

I'll get my dealers feedback on this soon

I would think there is only way you could get a bike that was test ridden. lets say in mi case Im third in the waiting list and my dealer only gets two bikes. if one of the two people
That were before dont like the bike after the test ride the dealer would be calling me.

I think typically most dealers have bikes that are demo only bikes that they just let people ride and if you ordered one you'd be getting yours but you wouldn't necessarily test driving yours.

When I first went to the dealer the guy told me that they will first take care of the preorders before they even had demo bike

I think it's the same as my business. I'm working in the automotive (BMW) and everytime when a new model is presented we have to take a demo which we can't or may sell before an agreed date with the importer.

Congrats, mate! your the first! Hopefully my strada next week. What did you changed on the bike?

Congratulations on being the first one at least on this form that was able to take delivery of their new Hypermotard!

I visited two of my local dealers today the boutique dealer was not sure when the bikes were going to arrive he said it would be at least two weeks after he got notification that the bikes for being shipped that we would actually see them.

The big box dealer said that he had a shipping date of 12 April and we would see them on 22 April he said that specifically he did not talk in generalities. At the moment I don't have any reason to doubt what he's telling me he is the sales manager not just a peon on the floor.
Take that information as you will.

Great! I assume you have still to mount a few parts?
And the most important thing for all of us : how does it ride?

250 miles

250 miles this weekend and it AWESOME
I rode over 14000miles on my 1100s Hyper and loved every mile .
I was worried about the riding position of the new 821 as they were saying it was more rider friendly not so aggressive as the old one which I loved as an offroader.

But I love it, it feels lovely so comfortable also feels lighter and easier to ride giving more confidence.
All the miles were done on different roads all below 5000 revs and boy it make you smile.

Not sure on standard pipe but the termi sounds amazing(even with a cat in it)

Fuel light come on at 126 miles and I done 26 miles with light on and put in just over 11-12 litres
It did over 50 MPG so that's 50 miles with fuel light on and. Tank range of almost 180 miles !!!!!!! At 5000 rpm and that is not slow

Congratulations on your bike!! It looks really nice and that termi exhaust is the cherry on top.
Talking about the MPGs how is it compared to the 1100 you had?

Good deal I'm glad you had fun and everything worked as advertised.
It's also good news about the 50MPG I understand you are breaking in a new motor and you have babied it and also everything hasn't seated yet so once it's seated and you hit 500 report back after that with what your seeing if you can stay off the twisty thingy on the right

22tpk,
Thanks for the exciting report....you may very well have 10,000 miles on you bike before I finally get to sit on mine. June will not come soon enough for me. Your review makes me feel like I made the right decision in waiting for the hyperstrada!

My dealer still says he has no new info, so I called Ducati USA in California.... Just to see. They took down my info and said they will get back to me. I will post any info I find out. My dealer is in the Hudson Valley, NY.

Just got an email from my dealer and he will be receiving a motard demo for the unveiling on the 26th for sure. He is trying to find out what, how many and when bikes will be showing up. He wants we to come out and ride the Hypermotard demo. So no date at this point as to when the Hyperstrada will show up.
