Are they here yet?

I stopped to talk to my dealer today on the way home from work. Yup, the premier is April 26th. He will have at least one HyperStrada for that event. But, that may be all he will have. According to him, there are 160 bikes in a container on their way to the USA as we speak. He will not have any info as to allocation of those bikes until 3 to 5 days before he gets them. If he only receives one HyperStrada in this initial delivery, that will be the demo bike for his store, and I will be waiting until the next delivery for my bike. So...there is still a possibility I will have a bike by the 26th, but no guarantee. This is a large volume dealer and I am the first of 3 to pre-order the HyperStrada with him.

Makes it very hard for me to believe my dealer in BFE Florida is getting 4. Gonna make a call tomorrow...

*UPDATE* - Motard demo event 26-27 April. Motards/Strada's arrive following week; 29-03 May. Says the arrival after scheduled demo delivery is fairly standard fair, so he was just waiting to hear confirmation on demo arrival date.

I'll be riding by the 3rd of May!

Interesting. It appears my dealer did not order a demo for the 26th and the bike that is arriving is mine. Seems odd. I am wondering if they will tell me my bike is a demo and I have to wait until the next shipment in May.

I'm hoping this ^ is the case with my dealer as well. They're not sharing any details with me, which is annoying, but at least I know from experience that they don't carry demo models at all...all to say, whenever the bikes come in, mine will be one of them. I just wish I could get a fricking date out them. Waiting until the end of the month or even early May isn't the end of the world, but not knowing anything is a pain. It would be nice to be able to at least make some plans with my buddies for getting together..

Yeah, yeah: first world problems, I know :)

My dealer has been straight with me all along. What he tells me is that the factory notifies him 8 days before it shows up at their warehouse. So what that indicates to me is that once the bikes clear customs they are notified.

Now the news from the dealer. He says he did order a demo. Not sure if he will get 2, in which case the second is mine. It is not a huge deal if I have to wait longer, I just do not appreciate the lack of info. The 26th is a hard date, and the dealerships sign up for the release party. My dealer says he HAS to have a strada for the event. Party on Friday. Demo rides the next day.

My dealer said they got a date of April 29. She wasn’t sure if thats the ship date from Italy or it was the date they would receive them. She also said they are notified 8 days before they get them. I told her I want to switch to a hypermotard sp. I did the math and for $1300 more you get a lot. Its cheaper to add strada parts to the sp than it is to upgrade the strada to sp specs. The carbon parts are just to pricey to add later. She though motards might come in sooner.

from the looks of the demo invite I got, I'll be testing a Motard and not a Strada. I've noticed some dealers/journalists muddling together the hyper line, with the Strada just getting an 'oh by the way' towards the end of articles.

I think the short 8 day notice has a lot to dow with them traveling by sea and clearing customs...thanks a lot, Bin Laden.

So how many people here are buying without being able to do a test ride?

At least in my dealer they made clear that my purchase was still subjected to a test ride, and if i didnt like it I could just not buy it and would get my refund money back.

Yep, I get a test ride first. They want me to come in and take the demo Hypermotrad out for a run when it comes in.

Yep, same here in Brisbane, Australia. Ordered mine in Feb and a paid a $500 deposit, fully refundable if I don't want the bike for ANY reason, and of course subject to that critical test-ride. And I told the dealer the test-ride had to be more than just around the block - I do a good deal of long-ish interstate touring (about to head off to Melbourne on April 17th for 12 days, 4400 km) and it has to suit that usage. But I must say I'm excited!

I was originally told to expect delivery into the dealership by the end of April, and my order stipulated that it had to be deliverable to me by that date. OK - so the first or second of May will be no problem - but I don't intend to be waiting until Christmas!

if we end up not doing the test ride on demo bikes but on our actual bikes we should keep in mind the breaking-in of the engine. Personally, Im going to do a hard break-in as it was discussed in other thread; even though we're only test riding the bike we should treat it as if we were going to take it home and do a proper break-in of the engine during the test ride because the first 20 miles are the most important during the process.

I have a few bail out clauses in my contract as well. My concern is, it sounds like the first batch will be sold before a demo bike is made available. In actual fact, our only local dealer only just got their *** into gear and put a 2013 Multi in demo.

I bought my first real bike without a test ride, and it was okay, just okay. Not great. Frankly if I'd had a test ride I'm not sure I would have bought it which makes me hesitant this time around (this is a lot more money as well) but not going with the first delivery means another eight week wait (at least).

Good choice

Good choice that's the way I have done it .
I now I have all of my strada parts other than the heated grips , I have not done it yet ( may be this week !) but in a hour or so I can turn my Hypermotard sp into a hyperstrada sp :D.

Picked up my sat nav yesterday from Motorapido on our way to British super bikes at Thuxton complementary tickets and Ducati VIP hospitality :):)

And there was a red Hyperstada in stock.

Congrats on your bike!! Knowing that there is bikes "in stock" in europe and all the pre orders unfulfilled in the US makes me sick.

Agreed - add pre-orders in Canada to that as well. I bought mine via a trade - in other words, I didn't only put a deposit on it - in November last year and I can't even get a solid delivery date, let alone the bike. So yeah, it does irritate a little to know that guys in Europe are approaching their first service date and we're all waiting and guessing.
