Canbus Warranty Recall Fix

Is there an expiration on this? Mine is fine but I'd like to have a "fix" in my back pocket if I ever have any issues. Knowing my dealer (idiots) they wouldn't check for it unless I asked anyway.

I wouldn't wait to get this fixed. It could result in your dash and possibly a few other electronics crapping out.

Yes - I suspect it also solves the coil/screen fry that affected a few bikes. These were good will repairs after warranty, but that probably has ended with this fix.

Anyone know an easy way to know if the Filters have been installed?

I'd like proof positive it's been done ... or not.

Would the diagnostic unit they plug into the bike tell anything in this regard?

Thanks for any tips. I'm not keep to tear the whole dash apart ... so looking for
simple check to see if work has been done.

Thanks

there is a TSB for this issue for the vin No. that are affected.
A call to your dealer with vin No. and get them to check, my bike was out of warranty, but was covered under the TSB campaign FOC.

Remove the front fairing and windshield mount (8 screws total) and you can see it right in front. A small plastic brick about 2cm square and probably wrapped in tape. Very easy to spot.

The dealer can also look up your VIN and tell if it's been done.

Perfect! Thanks, sounds easy enough!

I've heard of one bike still having a problem after the canbus recall, in which the coils fried the ECU.
