"Error" and all dash lights flashing, Fan Turns on, No Start...

My bike is one of the earliest 2013 ones which are the ones that seem to have been having the problems according to the posts on here. Just remember though it is probably best to check with Ducati ,as the year a bike is registered for the road is not necessarily the year the bike was manufactured.

A wire huh? Can you find out any more detailed information from the tech when yuo get it done?

They have ordered the recall part up as they only found out it was due on my bike when they checked the system.
i have read your posts on your findings, and i am only guessing that it will be some sort of wiring with a resistor in it to stop excess spikes getting back into the bikes electrical system. They said it goes to the dash to prevent warning lights from coming on .

I'm very interested to hear :)

I got problem again with "the new instrument cluster replaced" after 2 week ! Here my video : https://youtu.be/m2PmHwwnuKc .

Now I don't want to pay 1000$ for new dash anymore, could I buy an used dash on ebay to replace? Could anyone show me how to do with an used dash ?

I have same problem. Just start today. Big problem is I'm right now in Baja California Mexico all the way south and there is no Ducati dealer. I wonder if for you guys was possible start the engine coz I can and run but dash board still flashing "errors" I don't drive though ....

I called the dealership today. There is an active recall for the Hyper. Mine is a 2014 SP. The recall consists of a "CAN protection cable". A quick google search brings up this:

https://ducati-omaha.myshopify.com/products/51025101a

51025101a KIT PROTECTION CAN FILTER CABLE (MAE)

I'd like to see a picture of what it looks like, and where it attaches. I will probably get it done in the next couple weeks, and post up all the info I can get. This sounds like the fix for the dashboard/coil issue.

Huh, what do ya know! I'll give my dealer a call tonight and schedule my bike to go in soon. I wonder if it involves replacing anything else?

I have a 2013 and when I checked via the below link there was no recall out. Do you have the recall number?

Ducati

None are listed for my bike there either. I believe this is more of a 'service bulletin' and not technically a recall due to what they consider a safety issue. That's my guess. When I called the dealer and gave him my VIN, it showed up. I will post up everything when I get it done.

I can second this as well. Dealer acknowledged the recall, but Ducati's VIN checker does not have any open recalls for my bike. I wonder if they'll be able to get the part anytime soon, since it is such a new part.

I'd like to see what this looks like and where it connects. If it's easy to install I'd gladly pay the 25 bucks for the cable. It must be some sort of voltage filter to keep coil spikes from reaching the bus.

cubizme is going to provide more information. He managed to fix his broken dash unit, and is installing the filter as well. :D

Hi guys, finally I have found the problem, and I fixed it successfully !
You guys don't need pay for the new dashboard (1000$), the new coils ignition(300$) !
The actually problem is "electric impulse", make alot of heat to detroy the dashboard slowly! All bikes could get this problem if they don't have a "electric filter" ! I will post my video later !

Sorry for my bad English.

Well I called into the dealers today to collect a part. Whilst I was in it asked to check if any recalls outstanding and low and behold the dashboard suppression cable and software update are required. I haven't been notified of either of these recalls. I've had the bike from new and the dealer couldn't tell me why either. Anyway the new part is on order and will be fitted in a few weeks along with the update. All free of charge.

Sounds like it spans all manufacturing dates. They're just covering their ***** it seems.

I was hoping to ride over and get mine installed this week, but the weather hasn't cooperated. Maybe next week. I would like to find out as much info as possible, so people with poor dealer support can purchase the part and do it themselves.

Mine goes in tomorrow, dealer already has the part on hand. I will post some photos and installation details, as well as any other information I can find.

Most excellent :D

It's a recall. All bikes affected should be fitted foc.

The member above 'cubizme' has very bad dealer support. They wouldn't replace his dash unit, and he can't schedule to have the recall done. Sounds like his dealer in vietnam is seriously bad.

Yep I'm afraid that the support in Vietnam is not the best thats for sure.
My local dealer is no longer Ducati. They shut up shop not long after I bought my bike. They still have a so called trained technician there. But recent work on my bike was to a very poor standard. I now have to rely on a mobile dealer support service , whereby a van will come every 6 months or so into the area. That's if they actually remember to tell you they are coming !
Mind you , that is just Vietnam all over. Service and reputation does not rate highly on anyone's agenda full stop.

This sounds like the same procedure - or lack of it - that they used with the TCU. While some people got a notice - most had to go to the dealer and have them read a part number directly off the bike. Entering a VIN on the recall site gave false information (no recall). Not a great way to do business.
