Limp mode?

I had the same problem, managed to exit the highway with 20 km/h in second gear and 2000rp/m. Dealer told me that it is the electronic accelerator. The will replace it next week. Will keep you posted!

thanks

I will ask about that part, still having problems where first fire up it will not rev as I drive away. shut down 100m down the street and fire back up, no problem rest of day, only problems now have been after first start up in the morning.

I got the same problem now. Happens frequently, Error codes say APS fault. Dealer will give me an appointment tomorrow and they will replace anything that causes the fault - throttle, ECU, whatever. I got the new ECU updates as well, they really improved low-rev performance smoothing out the ride a bit. I'm driving through rain today, can't tell if high performance is capped. I'm always a bit afraid of engine mapping changes as I had an Audi A1 which felt crippled performance-wise after an update. Anybody sported the HS before and after the update and can you share your opinion about the engine behaviour?
Thanks!

I need to make a date with dealer!

I saw in another post that a new update is available. Sounds like you had good dealer support. Mine is a little over 80 miles away so I have to work a date that I can drive up, get the work done and drive back. Good to hear you are on the road and things seem ok.

Just got mine back, had problems with the insurance that covered the transport back home. The electronic accelerator was changed and the last ECU update added. Runs much smoother now from around 2500 rp/m up. Will keep you all posted if these problems reoccur.

New update did not help

I had the latest update done two weeks ago and still have problem. Initial check in SoCal updated software and said might be APS. I mentioned it here in Alabama to techs and they updated software and did not see problem. I have had it happen four times since so about 40% of the time I have this problem. I will go back and ask them to review some of what was mentioned above.

Had Ecu update a few weeks ago while dealer was uninstalling charcoal filter that wouldn't let bike start. Now I can't get RPM to go over 5000??? Very sluggish throttle response. Wtf. Didn't try engine restart....will check this afternoon. Disappointing.

So I went to the dealer for the 4rh update.......dont do it!
The bike is running bad.
3000 t/m 3 gear 50 km/u with a constant gas-hand the traction control [6/urban] is very often blinking and the bike is ' lurking' Not a pleasant ride.
Next week the dealer is contacting Ducati for an solution.
In the same time i have taking the demo bike from the dealer, with no updata's at all, and this one is riding far better then my bike with all the update's.

Any news from the dealer?

Was today at mine to fit the heated grips. A hypermotard guy was there for the ecu upgrade. I told the mechanic not to update mine (he was going to) and told him about the troubles. He hadn't heard anything from Ducati about it.... So I think I will keep the 3rd update for now.

I got a notice yesterday about a software update to help starting. I will be going by my dealer on the way to a meeting Friday. So figured I'd drop it off and have it done.

The 4rd update in my bike can not be downgraded, according to dealer that is not possible.
Option is to chance the ECU to the ECU from there demo bike whit no upgrades.
But it is an short time solution, because each bike has his original ECU.
The dealer bike without upgrade's is a little 'smoother' than mine 4rd generation bike.
I think the problem is the traction control, it is very often blinking, 6,7 and 8 can not be used without nearly all the time a blinking light.
Dealer is contacting Ducati about the traction control.
So I am waiting for the 5rd update.........

Finaly..........?! My bike broke down.
Cold start is a crime, from 1000t/m to 3000t/m for almost 5 minutes.
No neutral lamp.
Head light is on before motor is running.
Dashboard is like an christmas tree blinking.
Dealer has the bike and is checking the bobines, ecu, dashboard and so on.

I am not the only one, another dealer has had almost the same problems with the demo bike.
Some parts have to come from the factory in Italie, so I think it is no driving for me this year...

Pick up tomorrow

I pick mine up tomorrow. I left it with dealer for a week and a half. Same ol' story, acceleration position sensor, re-did software update. I will pick it up tomorrow. They said a few of them took it for ride and could not replicate condition after they 'fixed' it with the error codes they saw. The dealer in SoCal saw he same codes and updates software so I do not have high hopes. I do not have all the conditions noted above, just the limit of rpms sometimes.

The new dashboard has arrived.
Dealer wil not pleace the dash, he is waiting for an answer from Ducati, he thinks the bobines have broke down the dashboard.

I hope this is the answer..............??!!

Ducati has give an answer;
New dashboard [arrived]
New ECU
New Coils

So I have to wait again a week or longer.........2,5 weeks now and counting
Winter is comming soon...........

Tomorrow the dealer wil bring the Duc back home.

New dashboard
2 new coills
New ECU

I can't wait after 23 day's not riding........

Good news

Hope it works for you.
I am not working again. After a third 'fix' the bike would not start and then when I finally got it to start it was in the limp mode, 3k RPM again. If they honored a lemon law I would like a new bike are they need to start replacing parts. There is an error code and they just re-set software and acceleration position sensor telling me that is it. Then after about 4-5 rides it starts again. It is 160 miles round trip to trailer my bike to the nearest dealer so I am now going to try and get Ducati to support their product and come get this thing. Maybe they need a different mechanic to check it out. There is another dealer farther away but I have spent a lot of money already trying to fix their product.
