Limp mode?

Finaly my bike seems oke!!

Dealer has replaced the dashboard, the coills and the computers.
It has never driven like this before! It drives nearly like an normal bike, it stays an Ducati of cause.;)
But for me its an compleet new bike and I hope it stays this way.

I never had an error code in the display, all seems good, also on the Ducati computer at the dealer, but it was not.

Stick with it, usmcstrada. It's only parts, and they have an obligation to make it right.

But you guys are really making me worry....had a thought. Have any of you run the bike out of gas? If the pump got damaged, the cpu might not like the drop in fuel pressure. Also the battery must be kept up, I keep mine on a mini-Tender.

Never run out of gas, if the light starts to blink I get my gas. 10-11 liter.
Accu is oke, used the bike nearly every day.

Maybe it's your weather? I live in the desert..almost never rains here. Anyway, fingers crossed.

I think the bike never has been good when I bought it.[new]
Now I have an compleet other bike, I believe I like it! This is a little difficult because it is 3,4 degrees Celsius.

Latest repair

Now they put on a new throttle assembly. The previous three times in the shop they reset software, updated if needed, reset the APS. They finally replaced the part. I ended going through Ducati NA and they worked with dealer to come get the 'lemon' as I started calling it. So far so good but do not like the latest software. Very delayed response early on turning throttle and then it picks up a bit. I wish it was uniform, stalled a few times but used to the new software/part now. I hope to do some more shakedown rides in areas to test, only a few rides since latest fix.

I have 3200 miles on my 2013 hyperstrada (picked a new one up last week wth 1700 demo miles on it) & my screen says "errors" now & the throttle feels sluggish... Hopefully the dealer will be able to take care of this this week

Just recently started getting limp mode starts occasionally when cold. I can cycle the power at speed and it fixes it. No error codes, either. I experienced this when it was newer but thought the software update fixed it.

Some insight from the tech yesterday on possible cause of limp mode startup or the recent CEL w/ "errors". The throttle works with magnetic "hall sensors" that measure the deflection from the pickup as you twist. He asked if my bike sat next to any large magnetic source...to which I said no. But I do have a small stack of neodymium magnets on my center stand that are supposed to help with traffic light sensors. While these little magnets are very powerful, I don't honestly know if they are the source. I'm gonna take them off for a while and see if it helps.

Good lead for those of you that have had this issue.

Might have had the same problem just yesterday. Bike was fine, I stop to send a text, jump back on the bike, take off when suddenly I lose all power.

Engine was still running
Engine light was ON

I pulled over, turned it off, then back on, a few times. Engine light went off, however from that point on I was in "Limp" mode. Throttle did nothing and bike seemed to be in some sort of high idle mode.

Ducati garage was just a few hundred meters down the road so I limped it there. It was after hours but the guys came and parked it inside. Thanks for all the info here, will pass that along.

Tomorrow the dealer wil bring the Duc back home.

New dashboard
2 new coills
New ECU

I can't wait after 23 day's not riding........

Do you by any chance have the Ducati part numbers for these?

This would be super useful in error checking and / or accelerating a possible fix for that situation.

Yes I have;

28642301A engine control unit
38010145B ignition coil
40610953E instrument panel

^^ Thank you!!

Dealer said they've ordered some parts but not sure which ones - hoping for the best. Will take a few days for parts to arrive.

Bike is fixed; that was record speed. I think they had another look at it and determined that it was just a short in the throttle sensors. They fixed the short and bike works now. Wish I knew exactly where and what but there's a bit of a language barrier.

Damn I sure am glad to have her back.

I borrowed a friend's top end carbon-termi-everything MultiStrada 1200S Pikes Peak - it's an amazing bike but I didn't think it felt more powerful than my Hyper. It's got 40 HP more but to feel those I guess you'd have to go very fast, somewhere above 180kph. Skyhook suspension is the only thing that I really want too, it's so good it's almost like cheating. But for the city, which is where most of my riding is done, the Hyper is way more practical. Multi is more like driving a small car...

^ In the USA it would be well over $20K... over here where I live it's more like $40K+ hahaha. It is insured... ;)

I really think it's anomalies with the magnetic throttle pickup. Why it happens cold more often than not, I don't know. My garage isn't a huge semi-conductor...

I hit limp mode for the second time today. I'm around 2500 miles. Going to visit the dealer tomorrow.

2000km on mine and same thing. Except the dealer can't find an issue and wants to charge me for the time spent on it.
