Pipes....

Hi, Question Is the lo mount slip on termi titanium for Hyper 939 is the same with 821? because normally all on sale are for 821 only. Thanks for the info in advance guys.

The weight savings of a titanium aftermarket doesn't really sink in till you hold both in your hands. 5-7 lbs on a 400lb machine is significant.

The bike is more like 450lbs so maybe 1 or 2% - If it was free and no louder - sure - otherwise ...

It's ab0ut the same weight as a gallon of gas - do you notice the diff between 3 and 4 gallons? Maybe - but I don't.

If changing the exhaust can would make my bike nearly silent, I'd be a player.

Why in the world would any rider wish to announce to all law enforcement their approach?

Stealth makes for happier neighbors and public.

Agree... even though it was the sound that sold me on the bike, I wish we had a quiet option. I have a strong belief that quieter bikes allow you to be more relaxed and ride faster. It's also a lot less mentally draining.

The 939 muffler is supposed to be quieter.

I have a spare muffler that I've been thinking of stuffing. Have never gotten around to it and have become used to the bike. When camping, the noise sometimes bothers me - but then again I sometimes have to listen to drunk people not having fun....Tough choices.

It's actually louder when you sit on it, than for bystanders. The consensus amongst colleagues is that it's not in the ****** zone.

I agree on the quieter/relaxing thing - I've learned to moisten my foam plugs before inserting and I get a nice low rumble just to remind me things are happening. Though I can gauge things by the vibes - the human tach.

And sometimes a little unnecessary revving is what the doctor ordered.

No one would buy a Ferrari if it mildly wheezed when you stomped the pedal. I remember they added external "engine" noise to the Fisker EV after prospective buyers complained about the lack of audible acceleration. The level of noise coming out of the pipes is kinda directly proportional to performance.

It sounds great. I even like the couple DB's my Akra added but wouldn't pull the DB killer as that would border ******-y. Hey, it's far from a 600cc I-4 with a race pipe. Just be respectful when cruising your neighborhood.

So Ducati owners want a quiet bike ?
Jees , I was obviously born in the wrong era ....

ha ha. You could cut the dbs by half and this wouldn't be a quiet bike - but it's not too bad. It's when you're on a backwoods road pulling into a campsite you do draw a lot of attention. That's it - how many ducs, in the past were trawling atv paths and logging roads?:)

The reason you buy a big Bore V Twin, apart from the Torque/Grin Factor, is the noise.
Especially Italian V Twins. Open pipes are a must, to allow that motor to snarl , properly, un restricted. Opinions vary on exactly how loud they should be , which I agree with , but, never a stock pipe. If you want to arrive on a remote camp site, quietly, and politely, buy a BMW GS 850.or a 600 bandit. :)

Allows them to get the full enjoyment of all the racket they make.

Nope, I like the ride so much more than making a lot of noise and announcing to the world my arrival.

I won't bust your enjoyment of your activity with a lot of noise, and you don't bust my enjoyment of the backroads and forest. Fair trade.

Living in a world filled with LOUD Harleys and pickups, I don't want to add to the sound level. I just want to ride my own ride.

Someone must work for the EPA..

You're right though, to each their own. Personally I enjoy hearing by bike roar through my ear plugs when in the twisties, with the option to tone down the sound with a DB killer when touring.

Nope, just an old dirt biker who has seen a significant reduction in available areas to explore off-road. Less Sound = More Ground may be a 1970s saying that came true.

Many new cars manufacture exhaust sound for the interior compartment to appeal to those wishing to "enjoy" the sound, while maintaining a quiet exhaust note. Maybe ..........

Let me offer an analogy: Have you ever been in a restaurant and someone answers their cellphone and has a LOUD conversation? They are enjoying their conversation, aren't they? So, since they enjoy their loud conversation, everyone else in the restaurant should just suffer?

Absolutely - camping out west - no matter how remote - there's the sound of a straight/shorty pipe Harley. A nightmare. There's a difference between a nice sound, and loud. There's a difference between respect for others, and "the man won't let me be".
