I actually flipped it into urban to soften things up and get accustomed to the bike on the way to my barber. Bike still feels plenty quick even with reduced power.

For whatever it's worth, my bike had the same issue when bought off the dealership - a good 80% of the time, the engine would keep turning over at around 5k rpm despite the throttle being completely closed. The only thing that reset it was switching up a gear and then back. New 939, so presumably not part of the throttle recall.

It eventually went away on its own at around 400 miles and I haven't had it happen since.

Good news, I just got back from the dealer and the throttle recall seems to have fixed my sticky throttle issue. It also evened out the power delivery a lot more. That said, these bikes have silly amounts of torque and the ride by wire is not my favorite. Power delivery is definitely more aggressive in its on/off than my Triumph Daytona 675R, but the power is more linear.

To address some questions, I flipped between sport and touring and urban when trying not to die with the sticky throttle. It's currently in touring. And my understanding is that touring doesn't cut the power from sport mode, it only adjusts the DTC and ABS settings to allow more wheel slip for backing into corners, etc.

Good news. I wrote a thread on this non recall recall and asked for it to be stickied - but no go, so everyone on the forum has to go through this.

What happens is the throttle sensor doesn't know the throttle position so it guesses. Most of the time this results in limp mode, but obviously there are other more dangerous symptoms. glad it worked out for you.

I never had the throttle stuck open issue, but I did have the surging/choppy as **** power delivery for a while that made it horrible to ride unless at WOT or 0% throttle. Luckily just before service; they said the exhaust flapper had got stuck. Sill surged a little though.

Disconnected the flapper and I've never been happier.
