The results look great. Thanks for the suggestion.

My dealer said this would be covered under warranty. Were they spewing horse-****?

My dealer supposedly tried, but prefaced it with "I doubt it". Regardless, with regular use, they'll look beat up again in about a year, maybe 2.

my dealership said they tried but my claim was denied.

So now I am working on making something else that will last on the bike. Taking the bags on and off really defeats the purpose of having them if I'm worried about the sun fading them while I'm at work.

but it looks like the black top might be a worth while quick fix for most people.

I've been meaning to look into getting them re-upholstered. Mine have a lot of scuffs and scars, mostly from kicking them with my boot as I throw a leg over (hey, I'm short).

But, definitely gonna do this in the mean time. Good find.

I'll be interested in the results of your "trial." I'm kind of used to the ugly purple-black but actual black again would be good!

as the fixations are easy to remove, could be worth try to have someone redo the side cases in a better material... even waterprof and with a good locking mechanism

Mine will be getting their first outing on the bike after a year and a half in the loft from new. They will probably go back in the loft after their 3 days of sunlight!

My faded side bags and top case were all replaced under warranty with, supposedly, new style that will not fade.

The Back to Black looks good but he is doing it on a vinyl top and not a cloth one. I wonder what the difference would be

Curious - How many miles and how old was the bike when they swapped them out? I just stopped in to see about warrantying mine last week but haven't heard back.

I'm at 5,000 miles at roughly 6 months of ownership (3 of which it was in the garage - had knee surgery) and mine look like garbage.

About 8 months old and 3K miles. I bought it used from my dealer and they got all this warranty work done. They are even replacing the rear grab rails as they faded also. :D
