Splashing out cooling fluid.

Hi all,

After a nice warm day riding, I noticed a red fluid flowing out of the canister overflow tube. It was not much but it shouldn't happen.

I called my dealer's mechanic and he said it might be some air trapped somewhere. Today was the hottist it got until now. Radiator fan was on.

I ran the bike for a while and everything looks ok now.

Anyone had this problem before?

I see mine go up to 217 in traffic and off road riding, but no overflow yet. Had a KTM that needed a catch can since it always over flowed in hot desert riding.

I haven't seen above 220 in FL heat. Light doesn't come on until 250. I've wondered about the fan but I wear ear plugs/headphones and don't hear much at speed.

Had a very small spill today. Didin't notice it at first.
Mailed my dealer again and he has to sort it out.
Expansion canister is still at the same level as last time.
So where this is generated, I don't know.

Only thing is, both times where after riding at a very low speed for a few hundred yards or so. Was lubricating my chain (OSCO oiler).

Had a few spills during my trip thru Scotland.
Had a talk with another dealer from Germany and he mentioned that a not good de-aired cooling system sometimes causes leaks.
Was at my dealers today and they de-aired the cooling system. See what happens.

My mechanic recommends keeping the fluid level at the minimum line not maximum line. He claims it will over flow if at the maximum line. Check the fluid with the engine cold. I personally don't know and have not seen a problem yet and air temps have been in high 90's

I have not seen any coolant loss on mine. I have a 170 mi ride this weekend and should be hot (97 deg).
