Throttle Play Issues

So what has anyone done or come up with to fix./address the throttle play, slack?

I've seena company make a silicon cap that goes inside the grip to fix this but its only on the Pani and havent found one for the Hyper yet. The play is sloppy and annoying as you may know.

I did a cut piece of zip tie. Cost zero dollars and is super simple to do. A few of us here have done it. The hardest part is getting the spring back into place on the throttle assembly. It definitely gives the illusion of being more snappy. Im happy with it. On some of the Pani's you just have to pull the throttle tube out and clock it to the upside down position. That removes all the slack as well. But $30 for a $.01 3D print, nah. Ill do my zip tie mod and be done with it.

I just did mine today. Take the throttle apart via 2 star screws at the rear. You will see a small square block protrusion on the throttle sleeve that plugs into the white plastic part. This is loose. So you cut a small square block of plastic a couple of mm thick to make it fit better. Cable tie is about the right thickness. I just superglue mine on.

Re assembly is a pain! Very tricky to get the spring back in and close the housing. Took me about 45 mins of fiddling and its the second time I have done it! Good luck!

Maybe I don't have the noted play (did have an early TSB for throttle assembly on my 2013), but I'm not sure I really understand the problem. Every pedal or throttle is gonna have a little play, no? Like, are you expecting sub-mm movement gives you throttle response? Could just be the cable upbringing in me. I mean, for urban duty scenarios, you want a little slop so you're not putting the front tire on Civic's trunk. It's like the whole reason for the dampening ability for the PWR mode.

In my crotch rocket days, if you wanted no compromise throttle response, you installed a GP-style throttle kit that shortened the throw to like 1/4 stock twist. Sorry, not being a penis, just trying to comprehend.

The reason for throttle play on a bike like your old rocket is to prevent cable bind. They were required to run a pull cable and a return cable in case of emergency the throttle could be closed. On a ride by wire set up that is not necessary. This just makes a more positive feel and gives the feel of a quicker pull but can lead to jerkey-ness in heavy bumps.

I just programmed sport and tour for the sport throttle setting and I like it. In tour it always seemed like a long twist to get to the meat of the matter and on the highway my wrist would start to hurt. Sport seems like an intuitive connection to the engine.
