I will do the Colorado BDR this summer!
Did a little more looking at this the german unit on flee bay is only 3mm thick or .118" the SW-Mototec unit is 4mm on the base or .157" considering the oil filter is sticking out the bottom of the engine I think I will spend my cash on the SWM unit even thought I like the looks of the flee bay unit better.

I was watching a video on you tube the other day and some guys were on the Morrison Trail in Wyoming and the one on a 650GS cracked his oil pan because among other things his bash plate wasn't up to the task which helped me decide on the thicker material.
