I ordered the heated hand grips when i picked up the bike and the grips finally came in today!! Here in alaska when i ride to work at 6am it is lower 30's to 40s most morning. If anyone has them, are the grips worth it, how long did the install take and can i do it myself (i know i have to bring it in to the dealer for the computer work), and since on the bill of sale for the bike that included the grips but not the install fee, should the dealer not charge me the install fee. Thanks for helping me, im new to the world of ducati's and owning brand spanking new bikes:):D I have own beaters and older bikes till now.

Stay warm

Anthony

For warranty reasons you should let the dealer installs the grips, if something goes wrong it's not your fault; if the dealer is a good one he will not ask you for extra bucks, otherwise he sucks!

I made the trip to Soldotna, Ak last June and really had a great ride (21 days on the ST), and yes I used my heated grips. LOL

I'm a DIY guy, and wouldn't hesitate to do the install. One of our members has already found the plug-in and put up pictures on how to get to it. (under or behind the headlight assembly).

Great improvement over the Multi12 which is behind the airbox and under the fuel tank which has to be removed.

Thanks for the input. Im a DIY guy too so i have to investigate the DIY way first. Superten were is the post with the pictures of were the connectors are?

Thanks

Anthony

I'm the guy that did the DIY for the GPS that shows the connector for the Heated Grips. I am curious how many connectors there are for the heated grips. I only saw one small connector behind the headlight (as per my photo) do your install instructions confirm this is the only connection?

There are two bundles of wires tied back on each side of the headlight housing. I suspect each bundle contains a plug in for the heated grips.

So I ordered my heated grips at the point of purchase well over 6 weeks ago and got to thinking about that yesterday, not much need for heated grips in July, anyway called my dealer today and there still not in yet! I was like WFT! 6 weeks from Italy! Their only expiation is that sometimes Ducati is that way….

They are looking into it and are to get back to me as to when so we shall see, anybody else have experiences like this?

Same in London, UK, I ordered my heated grips on May 17th, it was supposed to come today July 3rd, I haven't checked with the dealer yet. Lucky that it is summer though some times it gets cold with wind and rain.

Behind the headlight there are two bundles of wires zip tied into place. Each one has a plug labeled heated grip. I took both bundles a apart looking to install a USB plug.

My dealers excuse for not fitting mine at the PDI was he forgot and that it he would do it on the 1st service, I take it, it was more like there waiting for them!!

I was told yesterday by Ducati Glasgow that it'll be close to Sept before there's a chance of my grips getting here

i just got tired of waiting and canceled my order. There is no excuse for not informing us of a backorder this long. If it looks like they will come in by fall i will get them again, fall in Alaska gets down to mid 30's lol. if i want to ride more than 3 months i need them.
