I have a 2015 HS. Most of the time the clutch is totally normal. But occasionally it is terrible on pullaway, where it pogoes and wants to stall the engine. On a couple of occasions I have stalled. I cannot know when it will do it, it is so random.

I assume this fix will not help me as with a 2015 model I would already have the updated parts? So why would mine occasionally be so crazily grabby. I am experienced rider so it's nit rider error.

Hmm interesting. I doubt this kit would help. Perhaps issues with the clutch cable, a replacement or service of your current cable may help.

This may not be related, but I had an issue like this with a car I bought (2004 Golf TDI) I assumed it was just harder sometimes because diesels have more torque. Turns out there was a problem with the clutch, it was a dual density clutch or something and those two parts had become separated. Sometimes they'd stick together and work properly, and sometimes I'd go shift and there'd be nothing, nothing, nothing and then all the sudden it would engage abruptly.

Probably not related, but I suppose if adjustment doesn't solve the issue there could just be a problem with your clutch.

I finally got around to installing the updated clutch and spring. It's so much better than stock. Behaves like a normal motorcycle clutch now. The hardest part was getting the belt cover back on. I probably could have left it but didn't want to smear the RTV.

Thanks guys for locating the parts and the excellent write ups.

I tried to do the replacement but couldn't even break the seal of the clutch cover.

Would anyone be kind to post a picture of the tool used to do so? I'm thinking I just need the proper tool and see how to use it.

I don't have any photos but I recall using a bolt and a nut wedged into some spot in order to pop it off. There are a few leverage points on the cover. A thin piece of metal like a feeler gauge can also be inserted and dragged around to slice the sealant.

I took the oil filler cap off and used a small 2x4 with a rubber mallet seated on the oil fill hole. Tapped a couple of firm hits and it unseated.

I struggled quite a bit. There are 2 tabs on the cover to pry against. Just be gentle.

Im in the middle of doing this project, the 3mm rod is supposed to thread into the clutch basket correct, not just stay in place? I am not able to get the rod to thread into anything. Maybe Im not understanding this part.

Yeah mine isn’t catching the threads, like it is the wrong size. Could it be misaligned? I got M3 .5mm thread pitch from McMaster carr

That sounds like the correct threaded rod. Can you see the hole that it's supposed to thread into? Is the end of the threaded rod damaged in a way that would prevent it from threading in?

Worst case scenario, you could skip the threaded rod for the disassembly steps, carefully decompress the clutch springs as you do so, and then sort out the issue when the parts are off the bike.

Got it figured out, someone else had been into the clutch before I bought the bike, reassembled it incorrectly and didn't have the clutch basket lined up with the threads. Still finished the job but was definitely more difficult.

Thanks for your help!

Hey guys, I have a 2014 Hypermotard 821 with all of the clutch issues stated by others. Its almost impossible to find neutral under 20-30kph. I notice it did get better though after about 7-8000kms when the bike was broken in a little. I get mis shifts all the time. Mostly between 5-6 gear. And generally shifting is just feels rough. I was about to order the anit-judder kit mentioned here when my friend thrashed his monster 821 and sold me his Ducabike clear clutch cover for cheap. He told me his clutch was having all the same issues unitil after he installed the clear clutch cover, pressure plate, and the hydraulic clutch kit all issues were solved. Ive been researching about the parts needed to install it and decided just to convert my whole clutch system to hydraulic. Ducabike has a kit for this with the clutch master cylinder/lever included, but I will be purchasing the kit without it and buying a Brembo RCS14 master. Its on the way and I will let you guys know how the clutch feels after the conversion.

I recently saw this kit installed on a Monster 821. Another popular forum still says we can't use, which doesn't make sense. I went to Ducabike's site and I felt that there wasn't a full hydraulic conversion kit available. The hydraulic kit they offer doesn't include a slave cylinder, which they sell. Wouldn't you also need a master/radial conversion lever?

Clutch is transformed to the way it should be from the factory, definitely an excellent upgrade! Just did 1000 miles of the best roads man can find (West Virginia). Bike was awesome. Ohlins TTX and the Traction Dynamics forks had the Hyper on rails.

I read that same post on the Ducati forums. And I also was so confused as my friend has the kit on his Monster 821 which has the same engine. Also, if you google hydraulic clutch Hypermotard, you wont be able to find 1 example of a HYM with it installed. Seriously, I think I will be the only person with a hydraulic clutch HYM 821 lol. But in that post they were talking about the Oberon clutch slave, which has a different design to fit a little pin thats horizontally on the push rod. The push rod in the Ducabike kit doesnt have this pin, and all Ducabike clutch slaves are compatible. AF01 / AF02 / AF03. You can get the hydraulic kit with or without the master brake cylinder.
I contacted Ducabike because I was worried, but they told me it will be compatible and gave me a list of part # needed for the install.
