"Error" and all dash lights flashing, Fan Turns on, No Start...

good news. went to another dealer he investigated that the ecu was faulty. he send it to the repairshop and today I got my ecu back and problem solved. so ecu can be broken and bike running in limpmode. new dash will be returned

happy Hyper here

Well reading this thread has me all kind of paranoid. I picked up a 2013 Hypermotard a few weeks ago with only 6,000km, there are no outstanding recalls found online with my VIN. But I’m not sure if it’s had the canfilter service bulletin performed. I think I should be diligent and have the coils replaced with the Aprilia coils so these stock suckers don’t fry my dash (or ECU). I’ve read guys have had their ECU’s fried from the stock coils after the canfilter was installed for the dash. I’ve also read of guys having their dash/ECU’s fried completely at random. I’m scared to even turn on my bike now haha

good decision. better safe then sorry. If I had the change before I have would replaced the coils as an precaution. now I got the beru new coils and that should be fine.
you can check your Canfilter sb yourself. it's a small square block on the cable to the dashboard

So is this fabled canbus filter just a ferrite choke around the cable? They are easy to obtain in various sizes and even easier to fit if you know where. I'd assumed it was some kind of software...

no...canbus-filter is a piece of electronics with 6 wires. it has an partnumber and is soldered and connected to the loom that goes to the dasboardoriginal-can-wiring-filter-protection-kit.jpg

Thanks Hypertinus. I shall have a look at my bike and see if it has one, though with eldor coil-sticks maybe it doesn't need one?

Hmm interesting. So, three pins out and three pins in. Looking at the Service bulletin video it seems that it's connected to CANH, CANL and GND. So, probably this little box should be a CI like this:

This just happened to my Hyperstrada and it took a month to get it into the dealership. They have had it for over a week now waiting to hear from Ducati North America to see whether they will cover this known problem .

Well I got a follow up call from my dealership telling me that Ducati is stepping up to the plate and covering the cost of all the parts needed to fix my Hyperstrada. The “disco light effect” took out my gauge & both ignition coils, ECU is unharmed. I am the second owner and warranty has long been expired. I will have to pay labor costs but that’s better then the $3000 bill I was preparing for.

Man I ordered the Eldor coils and new pins/connectors. I tried to put the new pins on the Eldor coil wires without crimping them and ended up busting a couple of my pins. I was very frustrated. I ordered more pins, some practice pins, and a crimper tool. Hopefully that will make it a lot more seamless. We will see how it goes!

Good to know. Go after the eldor coils and do the swap so it won’t happen again.
Well I called my dealer and informed them of the Eldor coils but they said being they’re an aftermarket coil Ducati will only replace my coils with Ducati coils, I kinda figured that but it was worth a try. Maybe I’ll get lucky and Eldor will now be the supplier of coils to Ducati.

They may have been updated, too. If you go to an online parts supplier and they're on like version 3, Ducati shadow fixed the problem. I see this with broken **** I replace all the time.
