The Suspension Thread!!! BOOING

I would think that any qualified suspension shop could handle all the servicing on Nitron products.

Being in San Jose, I would check in with Catalyst Reaction suspension tuning in San Carlos, CA.
Catalyst Reaction | for the love of two wheels

Dave Moss and company did a stellar job re-valving forks on my 1050 Tiger's Showa units a few years back. Reasonable prices too.

They will be rebuilding the Ohlins shock on my DR650 soon ... $125 complete with all new seals, oil, cleaning.

That Nitron shock is a beauty, love to hear how everything works once you get the forks and everything installed. Safe Riding!

Ran into a guy about a week ago in Yosemite - asked him how he like his hypermotard and he loved it. Said the thing that transformed it for him was the mupo single leg drop in.

That might have been an expensive conversation for me. I think the stock suspension is good at speed, harsh going slow, and couldn't justify well over a grand for a full mupo install, but the single fork option has interested me. This is a $500 drop in.

A winter project - hmmm?

I'm now at 1000 miles on my Ohlins TTX36 shock and Mupo K911 carts. Nothing but transformed the bike to say other than I think it cost me something like $3k at the end of the day. Ouch!

I am looking at upgrading the suspension on my hyper and trying to find the best options available. Clearly, the Mupo and Nitron full setup needs special tools and skilled hands for the job. Not aware of anyone who can do this here and me sending the forks abroad and back involves a lot of expense and customs duties :( sign.
How easy or simple is the Mupo single fork drop in to install? wonder if the Ducati service guys can handle it here?

In a word, yes. The drop-in is indeed a drop-in.

The rear shock is every bit as important. It is important to have a balanced suspension. Mupo drop-in and Mupo rear shock.

sounds like a solution

Looks like I have a solution. I will speak to the Ducati technician here and Mupo seems to me this is the best and easy solution.
Single drop-in + rear Mupo would be good enough. Has anyone got first-hand experience with the single drop-in cartridge? Is it worth it?
RSL - does your suspension guy recommend the single drop-in?

look up about 6 posts.

This last weekends ride in the Ozark National Forest unpaved backroads was the first time the new Mupo suspension was tested this way. There is absolutely no comparison to stock suspension in the way the Mupo handles washboard road surfaces, invisible rocks, and all the other abuse Jeep roads offer. No comparison at all.

What would hammer the OE suspension is absorbed.

What would cause the bike direction to be deflected, doesn't do so with the Mupo.

I am going to replace the oil in my forks just wondering how much do I need in total for both forks?

I own a hyperstrada 939 2016; however registered in Japan as a 2017. I'm having problems with ground, clearance because the bike is too low for the kind of riding that I do. I have removed the center stand but that did not help much. *I have broken two shift levers and one rear brake pedal even after modifying my riding style to fit this motorcycle. I have come to the conclusion that it is in my best interest to increase the height and the ground clearance of the bike.

I ride very spirited in the track and in the canyons, however, the bikes' suspension is not helping me because of the quality and also because the motorcycle ground clearance is too low. So before I start spending any amount of money on fixing this ground clearance problem, I need help and advise.

I understand that the front forks on the hypermotard are 170mm compared to the hyperstrada's 130mm;however, the only difference between the two is the suspension's inner tube because both main cylinders are 43 mm.

Since the difference in suspension between the hypermotard and the hyperstrada is a suspension inner tube, do you guys know where I can purchase a used inner tube or where can I have those tubes made for a reasonable price. I have contacted Ducati here in Japan and the cost for a the suspension tube is about $700 each and that is too much money. To add insult to injury, Kayaba, the company that makes the suspension for the hypermotard and the hyperstrada ,is here in Japan, however, they cannot sell me the parts that I need to increase the bikes height because of the contract between Ducati and the company.

Online I have seen couple of used hypermotard 821 and 939 front forks for about 900 to $1,000 but since I am planning to buy the inner cartridges from andreani or nitron, the entire move will cost me about $2,000 which is a bit too much for a kayaba ensemble.

Does anybody have or know of anyone selling hypermotard front fork suspension for $350 or less?

Regarding the rear shock, I could buy a used hypermotard shock then change the spring but that path will cost me over $600 and the aftermarket rear shock suspensions, the simple ones at least, begin at $650 and so on.

Please, any help, suggestion or idea is most welcome. I am confused and stuck and I need help finding a solution.

Trade for a Hypermotard SP.

I'm not saying a new one. The SP has a far greater ground clearance. Even if you trade for an 821.

I might add another thought: I purchased the 2013 Hyperstrada because it was offered in two heights, and I selected the tall. The same ground clearance and seat height as the Hypermotard. The SP is even taller, with firmer suspension.

When I upgraded to Mupo suspension my ride height was increased over the cushy OE suspension. This makes cornering far more predictable and with far less of an issue with peg dragging.

The short height Hyperstrada was built for short people, where seat height was the priority.

There is about 2.5" difference in seat height/ground clearance between the shorty pants low Hyperstrada and the Hypermotard SP. BUT, there effectively is more because of how the suspension acts on road imperfections. Cushy Hyperstrada and the race oriented SP.

Exactly why I now have Mupo front and rear.

Stuff is just going to drag on the ground with the shorty Hyperstrada:

Want ground clearance? You now know what needs to be done.

Understand though, the Hypers are SuperMotos not race bikes. If you want a skinny & tight bottom V for ultimate lean, you have the wrong bike.

A Hyper is what you want for all round hooligan fun. Some modest off-road capability. Lane splitting fun. And, yet get the Strada luggage and tour on crap backroads with abandon.

Places a sport bike very uncomfortable, wrist breakers.

I don't understand your thought! I have a Kawasaki motard and a Multistrada 1200 and I race them against sports bikes on the track all the time. The hypermotard/hyperstrada are motards. The reason why they need more ground clearance is because of the position of the pegs and the pedals, however, I could get a different set of rearsets and maybe alleviate some of the ground clearance problems but I also go through rough paths on supermoto courses where ground clearance is imperative.

I never ran into clearance issues on my Hyper SP and ran it to the edge of the tire. Though I have heard of guys on the track running into issues.

You can help reduce lean angle by hanging off the bike more too.

Good news! I found a company in Italy that makes the inner tubes for suspension. TNK makes inner tubes for various types of motorcycles and the hyperstrada/hypermotard are some of them. In regards to the suggestion to get an SP, I will do my own customization on my hyperstrada to get her to my own likings.

I was posting here because I'm sure I'm not the only one looking for more grownd clearance, especially people riding spirited and doing the occasional track day...

By the way, in Asia, sports bikes and Motards race each other all the time in not so perfect tracks, specially in short tracks.

I love the way a motorcycle feels once the desired customizations have the intended result...

Are you sure you don't have a factory low HS. I also have a ex Japanese HS. I have only recently realize that it's a factory lowered bike. This is not a problem for me as I'm short in stature & not an aggressive rider.

I remember they only sold low 821s in certain Asian countries when it debuted. pretty sure they weren't labeled as such, either

I'm in the UK, and the low version was an option and had to be ordered from the factory.
It is labeled as a low version too on the documents.
